Visitors from Magnolia Park, liked it so much…

We were delighted to host some wonderful guests from Magnolia Park for a Society Day on the 14th June... delighted to say that one of the visitors has decided to become a member! Another great event co-ordinated by Barry Woledge, supported by a great team effort from Greenkeeping and Customer Services.  Well done to Nick, John and their teams; the feedback from Magnolia Park was excellent!!

No swimming in or retrieving balls from the lakes please…

Please observe local rules

We are all aware that it is not permitted to retrieve things from the ponds because of damage to liners and clay. I can only apologise to my Fellow Member for not assisting when today he managed to end up in the pond on the sixth; his name? I could not possibly say (GR!)

Now in fairness it was a bit on the warm side but most of us take a mouthful of water – from a bottle. There can be no excuse for this blatant exhibitionism even though I am willing to concede that his shot, from a tricky stance, was successful. When asked however what he was doing in the pond I could not appreciate the reply “the r***y breast stroke”

I suggest that next time you achieve a modicum of success (GR) in the spirit of the game you simply play on with a modicum of composure.

Revenge on Richings Park…

Revenge Richly Deserved!!

After a Chilterns Breakfast League 6 nil drubbing at Richings Park back in May, it was with much trepidation that we invited them back to Princes Risborough.  On the day however, PRGC simply outsmarted and outplayed the visiting "Big Hitters".  Barry's "star pairing" this week were Jimmy Findlay and Stewart Ford - well played gents!! Up until the 14th it was looking like being Alan and Mark... but that's another story, which they will enjoy telling for months to come :-))

Despite their defeat, Richings Park were very complimentary of the course, so well played John and Jake!

Manisha’s first “Special” – Restaurant Class!!

Manisha's Chicken Bhuna "Special" is a big hit!!

"This would be a hit in the best Indian restaurant in town" - "Authentic Indian cooking at its best - loved it"

We are looking forward to future "Manisha Specials" - Beef Bourginon with Celeriac Mash and Rogan Josh Cottage Pie

Great Captain…Great Charity…Great Fun Day

ON BEHALF OF RENNIE GROVE HOSPICE CARE...

Put July 8th in your diary - Captain's Charity Fun Day!!

I am asking for your support. On Saturday July 8th I will be privileged to host The 2017 Captain’s Day – I sincerely hope that you, your families and your friends will be able to join in the competition or simply the fun events that will go to make up what I know will be a truly memorable day.
For those who do participate in the competition I promise you additional challenges to test your accuracy on both fairway and green and a chance to pit your skill against our Head Coach Bruce on the 12th tee. Beat Bruce and for a £2.00 wager you get £5.00 in return – and imagine the bragging rights! At the 9th there will be The Captain’s tipple, Whiskey or Brandy with your coffee or Pimms for the ladies if that is their preference.
There will be “off-course” competitions too; for young and old(er) together with the now famous PRGC Buffet lunch.
Now I repeat: On behalf of Rennie Grove Hospice Care I am asking for your support – even if you cannot be with us on the day. Often when that has been the case in the past the generosity of Members has been extended in the donations that have simply been given to me before the event. I now extend that opportunity to all Members. If you are unable to attend The Captain’s Day I ask you to place your donation in the envelopes provided; write on the envelope “Captain’s Day Donation” together with the amount and place it in the Competitions Cards box. If you give in this way your donations will be collected and added to the money we raise on the day.
I have been blessed to see at first-hand the nurses at work who provide a service that is beyond imagination. Privileged to be chosen as the Charity’s Inaugural Ambassador in a conversation with its Director of Nursing, Sue Varvel I asked her to give me one thing that she would like me to say in my presentations of the wonder and the work of this incredible organisation. She said:”Rennie Grove is not simply about helping people with a life-limiting illness to die, but to live”. In those final months with my own beloved wife we experienced that truth, rarely talking of the illness; often talking of the next chore to be done or the mess that I had made in the kitchen; we lived life as we always had, together through all things.

On behalf of Rennie Grove Hospice Care – I am asking for your support

Consultants take Princes Risborough Golf Club greens to a new level…

As most of you will know, we have 3 key pillars to our strategy at PRGolfClub:

  1. To improve the course each and every year
  2. To encourage a culture of learning to help golfers maximise their enjoyment of the golf
  3. To provide the highest levels of customer service

With respect to improving the course, earlier this year I interviewed extensively for a consultant capable of a) developing your course to the next level and b) developing the greenkeeping team so that improvements are embedded into ongoing process.  These consultants are at the top of their game, working on top courses such as Beaconsfield.

As part of the selection process, we tested their new ideas in the run up to the Club Championships and the results speak for themselves!!

Competition Secretary – “This is the best condition we have seen for years and years – well done”

Neil Terry – “the greens are 300% better – now we have a chance when we play away against the very top clubs, because our greens are just as good, just as fast and just as even”

Whiteleaf visitor – “you are starting to leave us behind – well done”

We will keep you posted on the appointment and any further developments.

In the meantime, the consultants all told us that we must encourage members to self police the following:

  1. Protect your greens – always repair your pitch marks and do not lean on your putter when you retrieve your ball from the holeWe have provided free pitch repairers at reception
  2. Protect your tees – always replace the divots, always use a Tee on holes 3 and 8All of the divot boxes are full of sand and seed
We purchased 20 tonnes of top grade sand to help bring on the tees

Thank you…

Showers…

To confirm – the shower system has been renovated and is now back in action – thank you for your patience in this regard.

FREE!!!

Our new Greenkeeping Consultant made an interesting observation regarding our greens.

The biggest challenge that we now face in terms of 'roll consistency' is unrepaired pitchmarks.  At Beaconsfield, he said that there is a simple 'do unto others as you would have them do to you' mentality.  The 4 ball ahead owes it to the 4 ball behind, the courtesy that they will not leave a bunker unraked, a divot on a Tee or a pitch mark on the green (created by themselves)  unrepaired.

He says that we must do everything that we can to encourage this courtesy or  reciprocity to return to PRGC... so here goes

As of this week we are handing out free pitch repairers to all members and visitors with the simple message that we owe it to each other to leave the course in the same condition that we found it.

Please take a FREE pitch repairer from reception.

Additionally John has made sure that the Tee Repair boxes are full.

Thank you in advance
