Why Re-grip your Clubs
"During the course of a year, most Tour pros will have their clubs regripped 3-4 times," says Brad Redding, PGA Master Professional and a 6-time PGA section Teacher of the Year. "Obviously, most amateurs don't need to go that far, but consider at least once a year for most avid players as recommended."
"If your grip can't stay consistent due to some slippage, your swing can't either. Anything that makes the club slip, just a little, impacts the control you have of the club and the clubface. Your club might slip at any point in the swing, but particularly, it could twist at impact with the ground. Any slight change there will result in a larger variation in your ball flight. Your swing could have been fine but the club's turning may have caused the shot to go offline."
I'm afraid Size Really Does Matter
Using an improperly fitted grip can cost a player 3-4 strokes every round. A grip that's too small, promotes extra hand action and commonly leads to pulling the ball. A grip that's too large limits wrist pronation, stifles shot distance, and can cause you to slice or push the shot.
When to Re-grip your Clubs
If they are the wrong size then straight away!
If the right size, grips should be replaced approximately every 40 rounds - for most people at minimum once per year.
Regardless of rounds played, a grip should always be replaced at the first sign of noticeable wear, including:
• Smooth, hard surfaces
• Cracks
• Shiny patches
• Wear spots, especially where the thumbs make contact
• Faded or bare spots on grips that have been painted or have logos
• Complete loss of tack

Top of the range Lamkin Crossline grips start at £9 per club (£8.50 if 9 or more are re-gripped)
