Going cash-less on June 1… find out why

Cashless Clubhouse – Member Announcement

We are moving towards a cashless environment in the clubhouse, and will phase this in gradually over the next few weeks to ensure there is no inconvenience to members.

The transition begins now and will be fully in place by 31 May.

Where cash will still be accepted - exact payment for

  • Membership payments
  • Function payments

We will also maintain a supply of £1 coins on site so that members can continue to enter competitions without difficulty.

Why we are making this change

  • Improved security — A cashless environment reduces risk and creates a safer workplace for staff.
  • Faster service — No more counting change or “I’ve only got a £20 note” moments. Contactless payments take seconds and keep queues moving.
  • Better customer experience — Less waiting time means smoother service for everyone.
  • Simpler for staff — Reduces manual handling, reconciliation, and end‑of‑day cashing up.

Support for members who may need help

If any member does not have a debit card or may find this transition challenging, please contact us and we will ensure appropriate support is provided.

What we ask from members

Please bring your debit card with you whenever you visit the clubhouse. Thank you for helping us improve the service we provide.

Fab Men’s Trip to Whittlebury – and the overall winner is…

... well that's a story in its own right!!

Lots of buzz in the clubhouse as the returning group hail the trip as a resounding success!

Well done Mark and everyone who supported you in making this trip happen so amazingly well - great teamwork!

Here is the write up for the trip...

Tour Summary from Mark Collins...

24 golfers assembled at Whittlebury Park Golf Club to enjoy 3 days of golf, with the first 2 days being played competitively to see who was the best player over 2 rounds and for the PRGC member with the highest 2 day stable points, the Princes Risborough trophy winner .

The weather stayed fair across the 3 days, sun, cloud, a little chilly at times and a breeze to make some holes longer, or possibly shorter. The competition was played over 3 x 9 hole loops, ensuring no 2 days were the same, with each 9 holes have subtle differences, long drives, water, blind tee and second shots on occasion and challenging sand for those who felt the need to go there! For additional enjoyment additional hole prizes were added in and as is the norm, one prize only, unless a member of the winning team on the day, or the overall winer, 2nd or third.  The results of the first 2 days are shown below. You will note the unusual situation that arose, whereby we could not split Phil and Meron, so they came to a gentlemen’s agreement to share the trophy and have both of their names inscribed on the trophy for posterity.

On the 3rd day the format changed to a team Texas Scramble, which resulted in some very very competitive scores, with the winning team having the smallest winning margin of 0.4 strokes (after handicap) over the second placed team.  The team Texas Scramble results are shown below.

1st Pete Smith, Geoff Rudd and Pervez Razzaq

2nd Alan Batty, John Healey and Tony Banham

3rd Steve Williams, Phil Sloan and Dean Inglis

Well done and thank you to all players, who off the course enjoyed the trackman driving range, spacious clubhouse facilities, hotel dining of a high standard served by a very friendly and accommodating team.  Together with access to the Whittlebury Hall spa facilities, along with lots of good humoured banter and stories of 40, no I mean 55f oot putts, 300 yard drives and so much more!! We strongly recommend looking at Whittlebury Park Golf Club for a visit, as it is a gem only 34 miles from PRGC. Championship Golf Course and Facilities in Northamptonshire | Whittlebury Park

Thanks to everyone who assisted in making this trip so possible and so enjoyable, and to those individuals who donated their sweepstake gains to the chosen charity for the event. I am pleased to report that The Royal British Legion has benefitted to the tune of £175.00. Finally, a particular thank you to Al Bowyer for managing the competition planning and daily scoring so well.

See you next year!

Hillman update – Ewan and Tom shine…

Hillman Trophy Update

After a tough away draw in the Hillman Trophy against an experienced Sonning team in glorious sunshine, the home team eventually prevailed, as is usually the way in this competition.

Despite a dramatic start to the day, having survived hitting a deer on the A404 and arriving in Reading just in time to tee off, Ewan and Tom both rose admirably to the occasion. Tom secured a draw and Ewan was the only away winner on the day, fantastic golf lads and you should both be very proud.

Not so much luck for the rest of the team, who battled to the end. We will now be entered into the Hillman Plate competition.

Well done all for representing the club.

Cheers

Phil

Summer Competitions Update…

Wow - what a great response to the Summer Competitions!!

Draws are being made and we would like to thank Dave Thomas for his assistance in setting up the competitions.

Its going to be an exciting summer - if you have entered - please ensure that you pop your entry fees into the competition box and let Sarah know 🙂

NB we have space for one more pair in the Men's Pairs KO if you are still thinking about entering - please be quick 🙂

Car park and shed roof maintenance

Please excuse the disruption to the car park over the next week or two.  Weather dependant we will be working on:

  • New space demarcation solution for the car park to encourage more consistent spaces being left between cars
  • Improved disabled pathway by the members entrance using tactile slabs
  • New signage for trial spaces for people with mobility challenges

Apologies for any inconvenience and we hope that you will all see the value of the improvements in due course 🙂

You may also see Alan Jackson doing some work on the Pro Shed's roof over the next week or so - some essential maintenance which will also smarten up the course exit area.

As ever - lots happening to improve your experience

New efficiencies in membership customer service

As a clubhouse team we have reviewed how to improve the customer service we provide to members and guests - front of house and back office.

The first of these changes is in member administration.

Sarah began this process with the delegated authority to Luke of membership administration - great for his personal development - and allowing Sarah to step back and review how to best manage these aspects moving forward.

With Luke moving on we have separated these back office functions to a new back office member administration function - freeing up the front of house team to focus on service.

Sarah's new back office resource will specialise on improving the back office administration.

What it means for members:

You will receive renewals from Lisa, memberships.prgc@gmail.com

Any new membership enquiries and administration will be managed by this new membership function

Any queries about handicaps or HowDidIDo, please email to memberships.prgc@gmail.com.  Lisa will triage and move handicap committee enquiries to the handicap committee and manage all other enquiries herself or through England Golf/ HowDidIDo.

What it means for Sarah and her team

More specialised resources, with the time to work with Sarah on finding improvements to better serve our members and guests

Any questions - please speak to Sarah - as with all new processes their will be learnings and opportunities for feedback.

Thank you
