AGM 19.30 on the 1st NOVEMBER 2022 at PRGC

Dear Members,
I am pleased to invite you to the Members AGM which is being held at 19.30 on the 1st NOVEMBER 2022.

During the evening your existing Committee will provide an overview of the year 2021 to 2022 and your new Committee will be elected and will give an insight into the coming year.

We do have a number of Committee Members standing down after many years of providing excellent service and support. As a result there are a number of vacancies and if you are interested in joining the Committee at any time in the future then please don’t hesitate to contact me direct.

In particular we are looking for a suitable candidate (or perhaps 2 sharing) to take over the role of Competition Secretary, and in this connection please find attached a separate document giving details of the role. Please give this your consideration and get in touch with me if you are interested.

I and the Committee look forward to seeing you on 1st November.
Kind Regards
Al

Your Golf Club Needs You!!

Barry Woledge a stalwart of our Golf Committee is standing down this November and we need at least one volunteer to come and join us and help run the club. Barry has done a stella job for many years working away planning and executing club competitions seamlessly.

To continue the great practices Barry has put in place, we now need to cover the role of Competition Secretary.

This could, if required, be split into 2 roles:

Planning and Marketing

And Execution.

We are therefore looking for 1 or 2 people to join the committee and take up these roles:

Key elements:

Compiling the annual calendar with inputs from Senior Captain, Ladys Captain, CBL lead to ensure matches against other clubs don't clash with club events.

Marketing events so club members are aware, and participation is maximised.

Execute events on the planned day(s)

Validate cards and announce winners

Organise and distribute Prizes where applicable

Without this role our club will struggle to operate effectively, and we could all suffer as a consequence.

So, if you interested, please contact Al Bowyer or Steve Sargeant. If you would like to understand more about the role, then please contact Barry

Monthly Medal this weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun)

Please see below the flier for the October medal to be played this coming weekend. This will be the last occasion when medals will be played over three days. From November onwards all monthly medals and stablefords will be played on one designated weekend day only.
Enjoy.

Competitions Secretary

New 2023 Competition Schedule (Pre-Updates)

Colleagues

Please click here for the club diary for the upcoming golfing year. I have made some changes to reflect the Captains Drive in will now be on Sunday 13th November and the change in the CBL winter KO match date to Saturday 19th November. This had the knock-on effect of pushing the November stableford back by one week to Saturday 26th November. The rest is as before.
This has been published well ahead of the AGM for all to consume.
AGM 19.30 on the 1st NOVEMBER 2022 at PRGC
This is the annual starter for 10 and any changes will be announced via monthly updates
Best wishes
Barry

Ladies Charity Success!! Well done Sue!! …

Dear Members,
Please find attached the list of Prize Winners from the Ladies Charity Raffle. We raised £1308.30 from sale of tickets and sundry donations. That makes the total we have raised so far this year for the Stroke Unit at over £2000
All winners are being contacted and all vouchers still to be claimed are at the bar in the Clubhouse.
Thank you for all your help and support for this event

[PS so much hard work, outstanding collaboration outside of the club and with the clubhouse team to make this a success - great cause, great job, massive thanks to Sue Pomeroy and the Ladies - Ed]

Next Weekend Golf Update – 17th / 18th Sept

There are two big events on this weekend:

  • CBL match with Shendish Manor: this final league match of the season will be played on the morning of Saturday 17th September with a first tee at 0900
  • California Cup: this mixed greensomes board competition will be played on Sunday 18th September
Any last minute entries to the California Cup should contact Jacqui Taylor who is organising this event. The team for the CBL match has been notified and will be led by Club Captain Al Bowyer.
To avoid congestion on the course this weekend and give all the chance to play, the Men's Medal scheduled for this coming weekend has been deferred one week. This medal will now take place over the weekend Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September.
Good luck to one and all.

The sad passing of our Queen…

On behalf of PRGC we would like to extend our sincere condolences to King Charles III and the Royal Family at this intensely difficult time.

The special connection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to this country and the world is unprecedented and remarkable.  Her continuous presence across our entire lives has indeed for many created a near familial sense of loss.

We have recognised this at the club with tributes on all of our visual media and if anyone would like to watch the funeral with friends on Monday the 19th, we will be showing it on our big screen in the members area.

England Golf have advised for golf to continue throughout the mourning period and on Monday 19th, we will be inviting golfers to take a nip at the halfway house to toast the Queen and our new King.

And lastly, perhaps no one said it better than Paddington Bear; to our Queen we say...

Thank you for everything

PS For those wishing to send condolence messages direct to the Royal Family - simply click here. You may also have special memories of the Queen which you may wish to share with the BBC - simply email yourqueen@bbc.co.uk.
