CAPTAINS COMMUNICATION NUMBER 7

GENERALLY

Welcome to my July Captains Communication. June was another busy time and the events just keep coming, although July looks a little less crowded. The weather continues to look okay for golf so let’s hope we can all enjoy some great rounds and results.

MATCH RESULTS

The Seniors have played 3 matches in the month winning one against Hunstwood, losing one at Waterstock with the third being a non-competitive event with Wycombe Heights, who could only muster 7 players to our 13 so we randomly mixed the teams.

There was one CBL against Chartridge away which was unfortunately lost. The home match against Wycombe Heights is ongoing as I write this.

With regard to our ladies, they had another successful month with a win against Chiltern Forest in the Chiltern League.

If you are interested in playing club matches and have not already let the organisers know, please contact either me, Steve Sargeant or Dick Pooley.

FUND RAISING

As previously notified, the Race Night, being held on Saturday 22nd July for the Captains & Ladies Captains charities (MS Society & MND Society respectively), tickets are currently on sale. Please contact either Steve Sargeant or me for your tickets and further information.

COURSE UPDATE

Our course remans in good condition and the little rain we have recently had has given a well-received additional help.

You may have already heard that John, our greenkeeper, is leaving us this month. John has been a consistent and loyal member of the green keeping team and we wish him all the very best for his future career.

John’s replacement will be officially announced and commencing very soon. The details will be published separately by the club.

CLUBHOUSE UPDATE

Many thanks again to Sarah and her team and the catering team who continue to look after us and our visitors in an efficient and exemplary manner.

COURSE ETIQUETTE

Please continue to follow course etiquette standards by not leaving rubbish on the course, repairing pitch marks, replacing divots, and raking bunkers, etc.

MIXED PAIRS SUMMER ‘ECLECTIC’ 2023 & HUTLEY CUP

The mixed pairs events of the summer eclectic and the Hutley Cup continue to progress, the results of which will be reported in due course.

COMMITTEE ASSISTANCE

Many thanks to Doug Taylor for his very welcome help with a couple of events and for his continuing future support.

We can always use more help so don’t forget if you are able to volunteer some of your time to help, please contact either Steve Sargeant or me for further information.

Ladies Open Day

If you know any ladies who may be interested in meeting our ladies with a view to taking up this beautiful game or transferring from another club - please let Sue or Sarah know.

Clubhouse & upper car park area – the refresh continues apace…

Main bar patio

Work in progress but the team have been hard at work refreshing the flower bed onto the green - great work from Alexander, Dor Tubb and Sarah.

External doors:

All being refreshed, repainted and new signage applied - great work again from Alexander

Upper Car Park Sheds

Phase 1 commenced - new gates are being built across the front of the sheds to allow storage behind and a smarter look to the upper car park

This is in addition to the recent refresh work on the trolley / shoe cleaning area, the repainting of the Pro-shed and the refresh of the existing buggy sheds

More refresh news to follow...

New Lithium Buggy Update…

Phase 2 of the Lithium Buggy upgrade is complete!  Last year we purchased a brand new Lithium Buggy capable of doing 36 holes+ in a day.  Phase 2 has now been completed, we have upgraded two further buggies to an even more powerful Lithium battery - 105 amp.  These are capable of 72 holes in a day!  These changes alone have more than doubled our buggy capacity and made our fleet much more environmentally friendly.

For those observing recent activity in the upper car park you will have noticed the partial completion of a new buggy shed.  This will house phase 3 - a new buggy, also with a 105 amp lithium battery.  That's 4 powerful new lithium buggies - all capable of a full morning and afternoon shift!!

More info to follow...

Charity Race Night – Saturday July 22nd 2023

Good Afternoon PRGC Members, this is a message from Al Bowyer and Jill Peppett.
Following the very successful quiz night held in March, the next joint fundraising event for Al’s & Jill’s charities (The MS Society and the MND Association respectively) is a Race Night being held at the club on Saturday 22nd July 2023 from 19.00, with the first race being at 19.30 prompt
Posters for the event will be on display at the Club.
Tickets are £15 each inclusive of a hot buffet, and are on sale now. Please share the details with your friends and families and book your tickets and reserve a table early.
Prior to the actual evening, you can also:
  1. Become a 'Race Sponsor’;
  2. ‘Own’ and name your horse;
  3. Forecast the winner and second in the correct order of any race.
Please read on to find out more. The beauty of sponsoring, owning, or forecasting prior to the event is that if for some reason you are not able to be present, you have secured your position, which will be yours on the night - present or not present.
RACE SPONSORSHIP
To sponsor a full race is £50 plus a raffle prize, and for this yours and/or your Company’s name will be advertised.
OWNING & NAMING YOUR HORSE
To own and name a horse will cost you only £5 and again your name will be highlighted. As owner, of course, if your horse wins you will get the ‘Winning owners prize’.
FORECASTING 1st & 2nd
To forecast the first and second horses in a race in the correct order will cost you £2 per forecast. If your forecast is correct, you will win an excellent return on your investment.
I look forward to hearing from you and thank you on behalf of Jill and my charities for your support.
Kind Regards
Al
