Luke’s New G’Office

Many of you will know that Luke has completed his Apprenticeship and got a distinction in his work on the G’Office idea.

Below – please note some of the marketing for this idea which will kick off properly from June.

The idea is primarily targeted at golfers who wish they could work from home and pop into their back gardens to practice their golf 2 or 3 times a day – living the dream!

More to follow, but it is in intended as a potential pathway for new golfers to become premium business or corporate members.

For anyone who works from home, you will already appreciate the mental health benefits of a change of scenery and working from a different space – particularly with a view over the 9th green!

If you know anyone who might benefit from this proposition – please let us know 🙂

Golfer or aspirant golfer + work from home sometimes + would love to combine the two + would appreciate a change of workspace for the day (or more) = a Day at the G’Office

Cutting the Corner on 18th Hole – Health & Safety Notice

Please note that with the increase in lessons and usage of the Practise Area, we are taking the precaution of adopting a firmer line to stop anyone attempting the dangerous, corner cutting shot from the 18th tee to green, across the practise area.

Please note that it is now a breach of club rules to attempt this shot and anyone doing so will be asked to leave the course and not complete the hole.  The shot will be deemed wilful negligence and insurance cover will be void.

We appreciate that members are already complying with this, but our visitors need to be clear.  Signs will be up this week.

Thank you for your understanding.

  • Vertidraining for better aeration And drainage.

  • Fertilising

This will mean that some temp greens will be in play across the week on greens we are working on at the time

Benefits of this maintenance work are:

  • Better drainage
  • Thatch removal
  • Healthier surface
  • Better playing surface
  • Improved green speed
  • Ball Bobble reduction

We apologise for any disruption caused but as you know, this is very necessary work for all greenkeeping teams around the world.

TEES

Divot repairs have been disappointing this year and there may be some temp tees required at times as we work on the 3rd, 4th and 8th Tees.

We will keep disruption to a bare minimum and we thank you in advance for your patience.

Thankyou

Bronwyn McCullagh - Bronwyn has also joined the team, albeit part time at the moment.  Please also extend a warm welcome to her, both Paul and Bronwyn have made great starts!

Evan Griffiths - Evan  has also joined Jack and the greenkeeping team as an apprentice and is already making a difference.  Please take the time to introduce yourselves to Evan and give him and the others a warm PRGC welcome

Practise Area Update from Jack

Practise Area Update from Jack

The goal is to support Bruce's 9 Smart Shot, short game coaching and replicate as far as possible some of the short game challenges on the course.

Some maintenance work on greens this week:

  • premium weed and feed will both kill the weeds and feed the grass
  • regular every 2 day cutting to improve grass density on the greens

Replicating the short game challenges with layered cutting:

  • greens at 4mm
  • surrounds at 8mm
  • semi rough at 47mm
  • rough at 89mm

The area is also being revamped with some new signage - these materials will arrive in April.

Great Pub Night at PRGC!

Wow, what a great turn out for PRGCs Pub Night. Lots of fun, a few little competitions, great food and great company... oh and £100 raised for charity.

Big thank you to Sarah, Luke and Chloe for outstanding organisation and for Melinda and the ladies for suggesting it at the committee meeting.  Great teamwork!

We will keep you all informed regarding the next club social events 🙂
