New 50 Litre Air Compressor for Boot Cleaning… (30.03.17)

A new Air Compressor is arriving next week.  This is a 50 Litre rather than 25 Litre model so should prove to be a smarter solution.  Will keep you posted on eta but in the meantime, apologies for any inconvenience caused by the failure of the last compressor.

It’s Top Putt!!

So who is the best putter at Princes Risborough Golf Club? Let's find out!!

Could this be Nick's revenge after the crushing defeat by the Distinguishables? Let's see who has the courage to take him on!!

How Does It Work?

The hole at the very top of the green is the target hole. Players check the Top Putt leader board in the clubhouse (white board behind main reception) and identify a distance they wish to target. Measure the putt distance with the tape provided. Mark the spot with a Tee. Place the ball next to the tee - no closer to the hole. The putt must be formally agreed as a target putt, the putt must be made in front of another member and no practice putts taken. So long as you pay £1 for each putt that you take, you can take up to £20 worth of putts.

Where does the money go?

All money is allocated as follows:

Winner: 40%
Second: 30%
Captains' Charities 20% (evenly split)
Third 10%

When will the winner be announced?

On May 6th

Let's have some fun and see who is the "Top Putt" in the club!!

Have fun!!

Saying Goodbye to Miss Daisy… 29.03.17

Some interesting facts about Daisies...

1 Daisies are found everywhere on Earth except Antarctica
2 The name 'daisy' is thought to come from the Old English 'daes eag'.
'Daes eag' is thought to mean 'day's eye', after the way in which it opens at dawn.
3 Daisies have lots of medicinal properties and their leaves are edible!
Daisies are thought to slow bleeding, relieve indigestion and ease coughs. In homeopathy, the garden daisy is known as the gardener's friend for its ability to ease an aching back. Daisy leaves can also make a tasty addition to salads (they're closely related to artichoke and are high in Vitamin C).
4 If not controlled, some daisies can become serious weeds
This is because they are resistant to most bugs and pesticides.

5. More importantly, Golfers hate them

Along with a wide range of other unwanted wide leaf flowers and weeds on our fairways - it is time to say goodbye to Miss Daisy.

ACTION BEING TAKEN

This Wednesday and Monday April 3rd, we will be spraying the fairways with a top of the range herbicide. We will leave the fairways for a couple of days to allow the herbicide to take effect before cutting. Please excuse therefore what might appear to be slightly longer than normal fairways for a few days before we get stuck into some serious Spring mowing!

Giving our Bushes a Little Trim… Thursday March 30th

Please note that this Thursday, 30th March we have scheduled a specialist to give our bushes either side of the 9th green a professional trim.  Our apologies in advance - there will be some noise from the cutting equipment throughout the day.

Captains Curry Night… a Big Hit!!

A massive thank you to everyone for all their hard work in making such a great success of the Captains Curry Night.

Nick and Michelle for managing the event. Manisha for the amazing Curry. Luke and Luke doing a great job behind the bar and of course…

our two great Captains, Brian and Sue for hosting the event.

We hope that you all enjoyed the night as much as we did… and a big thank you to Bruce and Beryl for their wonderfully positive comments…much appreciated!

We raised  £250 for charity, to be shared equally between the two Captains’ Charities; Rennie Grove Hospice Care and Thames Valley Air Ambulance

So all in all – Captains Curry Night… a Big Hit!!

Distinguishables v Incorruptibles – 18.03.17 – The Result!!

It would be reasonable to concentrate on the result – so I will.
43 people had a day to remember; on a golf course in incredible condition in a spirit of competitive friendship. The weather was kind to us. We returned to a Clubhouse warm and welcoming and enjoyed a drink, or two, with a superb buffet lunch and the banter between winners and runners up flowed as easy as the beer; and they queued to buy raffle tickets to support their Captains charities, and somebody said “...the buzz is back isn’t it.”.
Now that’s a result.
Reasonable to believe that all those who enjoyed a magnificent day’s golf will be first in the queue for next year.
To those who did not join us – you missed a very memorable and enjoyable experience.
The Captain’ team; The Distinguishables, won the match.

[It turns out that the Incorruptibles must have been corruptible after all - 11 nil and no bribes involved? Mmmmmm (Ed)]

New Team Member… 20th March 2017

We are delighted to welcome Manisha to our team for the next 8 weeks.  Manisha wants to become an apprentice chef studying at Aylesbury College and we have been invited to offer her a trial period at the club.  She interviewed extremely well and we hope that she will become a great asset to the team. Manisha will report into Michelle who owns our 5 star kitchen mission. Michelle and Monisha will be supporting Nick in his challenge to continually improve our food and customer  service offering at the club.  Nick and Michelle have made such a difference and we hope with this additional support they can take us to another level.  Manisha starts this Monday so please give her a very warm Princes Risborough Golf Club welcome!!
