Next Weekend Golf Update – 17th / 18th Sept

There are two big events on this weekend:

  • CBL match with Shendish Manor: this final league match of the season will be played on the morning of Saturday 17th September with a first tee at 0900
  • California Cup: this mixed greensomes board competition will be played on Sunday 18th September
Any last minute entries to the California Cup should contact Jacqui Taylor who is organising this event. The team for the CBL match has been notified and will be led by Club Captain Al Bowyer.
To avoid congestion on the course this weekend and give all the chance to play, the Men's Medal scheduled for this coming weekend has been deferred one week. This medal will now take place over the weekend Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September.
Good luck to one and all.

The sad passing of our Queen…

On behalf of PRGC we would like to extend our sincere condolences to King Charles III and the Royal Family at this intensely difficult time.

The special connection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to this country and the world is unprecedented and remarkable.  Her continuous presence across our entire lives has indeed for many created a near familial sense of loss.

We have recognised this at the club with tributes on all of our visual media and if anyone would like to watch the funeral with friends on Monday the 19th, we will be showing it on our big screen in the members area.

England Golf have advised for golf to continue throughout the mourning period and on Monday 19th, we will be inviting golfers to take a nip at the halfway house to toast the Queen and our new King.

And lastly, perhaps no one said it better than Paddington Bear; to our Queen we say...

Thank you for everything

Some interesting things we are doing to keep the golf fun at PRGC…

Please find below some of the actions taken by the Clubhouse team to make golf more enjoyable for everyone - little things but perhaps worth knowing about...

At every stage of the journey we want e-Player Card holders to remember the things which are important to keep it fun for everyone playing at PRGC.

From signing up and receiving their e-Player Card...

To making bookings and receiving their confirmation emails.

The priority on the tee booking application ie prior to arrival is wearing the correct attire.

The priority once at the club and playing is to ensure that everyone understands the value of repairing pitch marks, raking bunkers and avoiding slow play.

See below...

What every new e-Player Card Application Form includes...

Politely asking everyone to sign up to the mantra that we wish all golfers at PRGC to work to

What it now says at the top of every new e-Player Card

What every tee booking now receives when they book and within their confirmation e-mail.

Ladies Charity Raffle – Great Cause – Great Prizes – 14th September

The Ladies Charity this year is very dear to all of our hearts.  We are supporting the High Wycombe Stroke Unit - where our very own Sue D'Arcy, ex Ladies Captain at PRGC, is now being cared for.

A little about strokes and the High Wycombe Hospital Stroke Unit:

Strokes occur when the supply of blood to the brain is reduced or blocked completely, which prevents brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. A stroke can affect anyone of any age regardless of fitness or lifestyle;

Strokes are very common with over 20,000 cases per year in the UK. A stroke can last several years or be lifelong.

Although some people recover quickly many need long term support to help them regain as much independence as possible.

The Stroke Unit at Wycombe Hospital gives care in an environment specifically planned around each patients’ specific needs.

Effective treatment can prevent long-term disability and save lives

These treatments include Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Neurorehabilitation.

The work that this Unit does is outstanding and is a Centre of Excellence in the area.
