Liz France – Lady Captain’s December Update

P R GC - December Newsletter from The Lady Captain

As you can see by the date above, we have already had Christmas Day and Boxing Day and I hope you all had a wonderful time with family and friends. I am sure you will all agree too, that we have also had a good month of golf and attended some well organised social events here at PRGC. My thanks go to Sarah and her staff at front of house, Tricia and her staff in the kitchen and Jack and his staff for keeping the course in such good condition, considering the wet weather they have had to contend with. Thank you all on behalf of the Ladies Section

Wed 4th Dec    We played the midweek Stableford. This was our first morning teeing off at 10am. It was considered a success overall as the temperature had warmed considerably and it was a pleasant morning weather wise. The winner with a very good score of 45 points was Sylvia Clark. The runner up was Fiona Coogan with 34 points. Well played both ladies!

Wed11th Dec    Annual Turkey Trot Competition. We had a halfway house with mulled wine etc, organised and served by Sarah and Luke. After the golf, we had a traditional roast lunch with all the trimmings. Polly Allen organised a guess the weight of the cake competition and we had a raffle for a turkey voucher. These were won by Jill Peppett and Anne Ward respectively. We had a slight hiccup with the system when entering our score cards but eventually the results came in as 1st Sylvia Clark with 30 points 2nd Jill Peppett with 29 Points and 3rd Jules Bendell with 28 Points Well done ladies.  Also thank you to all the participants, as due to illness only 2 members were unable to play. A fantastic turnout and I think a good time was had by all.

Wed 18th Dec     This was to be a Greensomes competition, but the entry numbers were very low, so we switched to our Winter Challenge competition. When we returned to the Clubhouse and drew the Raffle for the Annual Christmas Hamper, which was donated by Polly Allen and won by Carolyn Dowle. A huge thank you to Polly and congratulations to Carolyn.

Tues 24th Dec    Xmas Eve Florida Scramble. A mixed competition organised by the Club Captain, Al Bowyer and a few “helpers”.  This was for all Members and Guests. It was a large turnout with 61 people in total. The largest number of entrants anyone can remember!  The winners were Bird’s the Word and second Vice Capt.’s Team. The winning guest team was Xmas Hackers and Slackers.

That is all for 2024. I wish you all a very HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR

Christmas and Sustainability… thank you Al

A big reminder from Al Bowyer on the importance of sustainability - we can all play a small part...

The National Trust aim to plant 20 million trees by 2030, creating beautiful green spaces for future generations to enjoy.

AGM November 5th 2024 and election of new officers…

Please click here AGM_5th_November_2024 V1.2 Final for minutes of the AGM on November 5th compiled by Mark Collins, our new Committee Secretary.

A key highlight was the outstanding work done for the club charities.  Sue Pomeroy and the ladies raised an outstanding £5000 for the MNDA.  Dick's Pooley and the men have raised £1810.56 so far for the On Course Foundation, a charity which uses golf to support wounded military veterans rehabilitation.

Please remember to use the customer service book behind the bar for any constructive feedback, so that we can continue to improve your experience at PRGC.

A big thank you to the ladies who suggested some additional car park lights which have now been installed.

Thank you to all who were able to attend.

Pro Shop E-Brochure - Princes Risborough Golf Club

He has selected a cracking range of products and ensured that they were price matched to equivalent products on the internet.  He will continue to do a regular check to ensure we stay competitive with on line prices.  What this means is that we offer real value versus the high street retailers like American Golf eg for Hedgehog Wheels £29.99 Vs their £34.99 -  save £5!

His timing is perfect for Christmas and he is already taking in gift orders.

It is also great timing for winter solutions such as covers for your trolleys, umbrella holders. winter gloves, jumpers, gilets, jackets...

A massive well done to Luke on behalf of the management team and members

Captain Dick’s Monthly Update

PR GC   -   Captains November Message 2024.

Just a few words from me, this month, as obviously the AGM is on Tuesday 5th November at the Club, from 7.00 pm for a prompt 7.30 pm start, where your attendeance will be greatly appreciated.

Around the Club.

Our Pro Shop Manager, Luke Viney, has just released the Online "E Catalogue" of all things Golf, which of course is just in time for your Christmas purchases and presents. Luke price matched against equivalent internet products which means on some products we are much cheaper than other retailers like American Golf. So please chat to Luke about the items you might need.

The Course.

Is still in great condition, and the reason the greenkeepers have put the Winter mats out early, is because of the currently mild weather which is enabling them to re-seed some of the tees and other neccessary maintenance. White tees and gold and bronze tees will still be put out for certain competitions, subject to weather conditions.

Our HCP Secretary, Steve Williams, has very kindly worked his way again through all the numbers to produce schedules for the Mats course listing out the 95% hcp course details.

He has also pointed out that if you are in any doubt about your course hcp, just enter your GROSS scores on your card and our HDIDIDO machine should do the rest when you get back to the clubhouse.
