PRGC mounted its first ever 9 hole championship on Friday 03 August. This was a unique event as it was played on a hybrid course combining the best of our front and back 9 holes off the white tees. For the first time ever hole 7 was followed by hole 17 and then on to hole 9 etc. The course was therefore a little different and challenging as with only 9 holes there was no scope error.

The event was open to all members and could be played at any time in the day to enable all the Friday “regulars” to play and all members who could manage a decent POETS day and get on the course in the afternoon.  In the event we had 20 participating players with great support from the TOFFS in particular and a number of other “drop in” players.

The result was a celebration for the Family Tubb with Mark on 21 points just pipping his dad John who scored 20 points. Dean Herritty was a highly creditable third with 19 points playing off a handicap of 4.  Quite what was said in the Family home after the event is anyone’s guess but we are all sure John was gracious in his support for Mark, allowing him to win like that!!

A great day was indeed had by all. Presentations will be made on Christmas Eve as is the norm these days.

The men of Risborough once again put in a sterling performance in this, the penultimate match of the season.  Oakland Park is a neat but somewhat different course with its plethora of par 3 holes and short but tight par 4’s. It takes some getting used to and with the very dry conditions it was more challenging than ever as everything was running on and balls which would normally be on the fairway could end up, well anywhere. The team rose to the occasion however and delivered a solid performance in a 4:2 defeat which was a reversal of the 4:2 win for PRGC in the home match.

Bob Darvill playing with Richard Aldridge and Alan Jackson playing with John Forrest put in fighting performances to each halve their matches and secure the two half points. Stars of the day were our elder statesmen, the crafty Jim Findlay and our up and coming ace, the Welsh Wizard Dean Herritty,  who delivered a magnificent 1 up victory over a very fancied Oakland Park pair. Well done to all three pairs. Those of us in the other three pairs did not really come close but that’s golf. Steve Smith playing the course for the first time played to 6 over gross (one over handicap) and lost 6 and 5!! Not much you can do about that.

We are still in the mix for the play offs and our final match of the season is against Weston Turville away on 15 September. A good performance there will see this year's league go down to the wire and with Three Locks coming through fast on the rails it is now a three way competition with Richings Park. All to play for.

We had our wedding reception at Princes Risborough Golf Club on July 28th, 2018. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.  Nick and his team were amazing! The sit down meal was really nice and so many guests were impressed with their food. The evening buffet was outstanding!!  I was so glad that I chose this venue as our day was everything that we wished for.

Another fine win for Princes Risborough in the Chiltern Breakfast league, today Saturday 21^st July with a 4:2 victory at home to Oakland Park. Oakland Park are a tough team to beat and the PRGC boys did very well to extract a solid win and make it 5 wins out of 5 in the home CBL matches this year. Fortress Risborough lived up its name and the home team were able to master the very tricky conditions occasioned by the long spell of dry and hot weather. Solid wins by Captain Gavin Adams and club champion Neil Martin (4&2), Barry Woledge and Steve Wagerfield (4&3) and John Forrest and Alan Jackson (2 up) were all eclipsed by the 6&4 win secured by Steve Smith and Dave MacKenzie. This was an outstanding result and with Steve making his debut in the league team a brilliant win; win for him and the team. Dave Mackenzie has form of course as he secured a 6&4 win earlier in the season. There is no doubting who won the Risborough stake money on this occasion.

Oakland Park were very complimentary about the condition of the course and the quality of the food and beverages which is considered amongst the best in the league. Many thanks to Nick, Julie, Ed and Luke in the clubhouse and John, Jake and Bob on the course.

We are boxing and coxing with Richings Park at the top of the table for a place in the play offs and this will go down to the wire. The next match is the return at Oakland Park on Saturday 4^th August and our final match is away at Weston Turville on Saturday 15^th September. Both of these will be tough matches but having played so well all season the team will be in top form to secure a result at both locations and make a big push for place in the play off

Princes Risborough secured another great win in the Chiltern Breakfast League with the 4:2 defeat of Mill Green at home today. As expected Mill Green were still smarting a little from the halved match at their place earlier in the season and sent over a very strong team to try and turn the tables.  The result was very hard fought match with two games being decided on the 18^th green and one on the 17^th but the Princes Risborough team prevailed to secure a well deserved win. Bob Darvill and Richard Aldridge, and Barry Woledge and Steve Wagerfield secured solid wins whilst Alan Jackson and Richard Caldicott made it home 1 up on the 18th green and as the last pair effectively secured the match.  The outstanding performance on the day went to Dave MacKenzie and Sunil Soni with a startling 6&4 win which secured them the money and no doubt endless “bragging Rights!!

With four matches left to play Princes Risborough are still vying with Richings Park for top spot in the division. Three of the last four matches are away and will be a challenge but this team are up for it and the spectre of the play offs is there for the taking

Please welcome Julie Weir to the PRGC team!!

Julie will be transitioning to become Nick's new Assistant Manager from 18.6.18.

Julie has great experience of catering including a City and Guilds in Silver Service and the pleasure of serving HRH the Queen during her time with the RAF!!  Amongst her many skills she is also a trained bookkeeper.  Many of you will have seen Julie working with us already at functions and she has already received great feedback from customers.

Julie replaces Yaz who is leaving on the 20.6.18 to join Abbey Hill Golf Club in their hospitality area.

Yaz was a fabulous addition to the team and continues to add huge value to our processes, particularly with regards to the kitchen.  Moving to Milton Keynes takes her closer to her social life and we wish her all the very best with her career in hospitality and coaching.  Apart from her proven skills as an assistant manager, we will very much miss her amazing personality, its been an absolute pleasure working with her.

On Tuesday 1st May we had a special guest at the club for a TOFFS lunch.  We celebrated another 90th Birthday - this time HARRY WILLIAMS - who was 90 on Wednesday 25th April.
