Exceptional service – highly recommend … Another amazing team effort…

Another example of how everything and everyone at PRGC has to work together as a team to create amazing events, in this instance a beautiful wedding.

  • Nick's team this time front and centre delivering amazing customer service and making wedding dreams come true for a local couple. Sarah, Ed and Julie front of house in support.
  • Trish and her team providing a gorgeous complimentary buffet for the pig roast.
  • John and Jake ensuring that the scenic view remains a fabulous draw for visitors.  Interesting that the new lake on the 3rd is as popular as the lake on the 4th for wedding photos these days!

ReMarkable!! Was this the most amazing CBL end of season performance from PRGC ever?

This is how things stood in our CBL table after PRGC's stunning draw with Aldwickbury Park last week and prior to the last game of the season... could PRGC achieve the seemingly impossible... achieve an away win at Weston Turville? (Ed)

Today the men's team played the last CBL match of the season away at our close neighbours, Weston Turville. When we are in the same division of the CBL we routinely open and close the season with matches between the clubs and this year is no exception. Way back in the Spring we won at home 3.5:2.5 and there was no doubt Weston Turville were keen to reverse that result on their turf in this, the final match of the season for both clubs. Whilst neither club was in the running to top the division there is the little matter of local bragging rights so it was all to play for.
The Risborough men really pulled out all the stops on the day and secured something that is quite unusual in the Chiltern Breakfast league, an away WIN!!
The match was very tight but Neil Martin and Gavin Adams produced their customary win  4&2 in the first rubber. Pete Major and Alan Nunn were really up against it when they were 6 down but they fought back brilliantly to finally lose 2 down on the 18th green. Captain John Verrall and the Welsh Wizard Dean Herritty then came in with really good halved match so at half way it's all square. Craig Whitworth and Dave McKenzie then nudged us ahead with an outstanding 5&3 win to be followed by our father and son pair of Graham and Matt Enfield who succumbed to a 4&3 loss. So one game left on the course and the match is still all square. Cometh the hour, cometh the men and this time it was Mark Tubb and Barry Woledge who delivered a 1 up win in the final rubber to secure the match 3.5 : 2.5 in the favour of Princes Risborough.
This was an outstanding result and the back to back wins in the last two matches of the season means the team finish mid table in a CBL division containing a number of the "big beasts" of the CBL.
Over the season many players have participated in these matches and all deserve credit for representing the club and playing some outstanding golf. Particular mention should go to Neil Martin and Gavin Adams who lost only one match all season long. Special mention should also go to our co-patron, Mark Tubb, who is one of the few league players to secure a 100% record this year. We will pass over the fact that due to early season injury this match at Weston Turville was his only match of the season!!
We now move on to the CBL Challenge Cup at Waterstock on Sunday 20th October and then the winter knock-out where we will play Mill Green on Saturday 16th November. Onwards and upwards.

Second place Aldwickbury stunned by PRGC in CBL classic! the results…

Princes Risborough hosted Aldwickbury Park in the final home match of the regular Chiltern Breakfast league season on an unusually cool early September Saturday morning yesterday. Aldwickbury Park have been regular visitors to PRGC over the years and are past winners of the Chiltern Breakfast League so they have form and can play really solid golf. On this occasion they arrived with an exceptionally strong team and a very determined look about them. They were holding down second spot in the division and a good away win at Princes Risborough would have given them a chance of getting in to the season ending play offs either by topping the division or securing the overall best runner up spot across all three divisions.
In the away match earlier in the season our team played really well and secured an excellent 3:3 draw on a course where Aldwickbury Park are pretty much serial winners. That form continued into the home match on Saturday and our boys responded to the challenge of the day by playing some really good golf against a team replete with single figure handicappers. The result was another 3:3 draw so there is nothing to choose between the two teams in 2019. 
Neil Martin and Gavin Adams led the team off with an excellent 4&3 win closely followed  by Cliff Pearce and Pete Major with a 3&2 win and then Bob Darvill and Richard Aldridge with a 1 Up win. So three in the hut and three wins. Captain John Verrall and Steve Wagerfield came unstuck on the 18th green where some unfortunate putting led to a 1 down loss to be followed by vice Captain Craig Whitworth and gentlemen Jim Findlay who had the misfortune to play an on fire pair and lost 4&3. So 3:2 it was and all were waiting for the last match in. In this match Barry Woledge was playing with Matt Enfield who was making his debut in the CBL League team and they were up against a tough pair. Having held the match to one down at half-way, Barry and Matt then went three down with 6 to go so were up against it. The fightback was on and it came such that on the 18th tee the difference was back to 1 down. Barry and Matt could not quite secure the birdie needed for the half to win the match overall but fought to the very end.
Very well done to the team and particularly Matt who played exceptionally well on his debut.
The upshot is that having only secured 5 points Aldwickbury Park will not head the division and are unlikely to make the play-offs this year! As for us, our 5 points mean we now head Weston Turville at the foot of our divisional table so need a good performance away at their place in the last match of the season next Saturday 14th September to secure a mid table league position.

LADIES & SENIORS CHARITY BINGO – 27th SEPTEMBER 2019

I am pleased to announce that Rosie Brand, the Ladies Captain and Brian Fowler, Seniors Captain, have asked me to run another Charity Bingo evening for their respective Charities.

In April this was a very successful and fun event and raised a substantial sum for Charity.

The next event is on FRIDAY 27th September and tickets go on sale this week and are available from Rosie, Brian and me.

If you want to join in the fun would you please let one of us know and we will sell you your tickets, which must be bought in advance so that we can keep a record of the numbers.

The details are:
• Cost £12 - which includes a buffet and 6 games of Prize Bingo.
• There will also be 6 games of Cash Bingo - tickets to be purchased on the night.
• Start time - Eyes down at 19.30 prompt.
• Bingo Dabbers can be purchased on the night.
• There is of course a bar where you can buy your drinks.
• Bingo Lingo essential!

CBL – Our First Trip to Shendish Manor… the results

On 31st August we paid our first ever visit to Shendish Manor, an interesting little golf course over Hemel Hempstead way. At 5641 yards the course is not long but it is quirky and it is evident that local knowledge is a very useful attribute when it comes to playing match play golf. Following a major water leak the irrigation system had been turned off so the greens were somewhat more solid than we are used to at home.
The match was closely fought with Pete Major and Mike Stevens securing an excellent win whilst Graham Enfield and Neil Terry secured a good half point. Of the remaining matches two were lost 2&1 and one 3&2 and all three were closely contested and could have gone either way. In the other match the Shendish Manor pair had a player deliver a 10 under handicap round of golf and there is not much you can do about that except smile!!
The food and beverage were excellent and an enjoyable day was had by all despite the result.
We have two more league matches to come in the next two weeks: at home to Aldwickbury Park next Saturday 07 September and away at Weston Turville the week after.

WAGS “WIND UP”- November 3rd 2019… what you need to know

To all our WAGS players and guests.

This year we are going to revert to the good old days and have our grand Finale at PRGC on Sunday 3rd November

Golf will also be played on Sunday with 1st Tee Time at 09:30. We have block booked the course.

 

So far, we have entertainment lined up for the evening by way of Al Jenkins (Guitarist) who will take us through the ages of music . Arrive at the club for 7:15 PM for a pre drink.

Prize giving will commence at 7.45 PM -8.15 PM

Food on the evening will be a mixture of Chilli, Curry, Atlantic Prawns, and Salad with various additional tit bits. There will also be a selection of cheeses available afterwards.

 

The cost for the evening will be £16.00 for Wags members (that includes your Wags 18 holes) and £19.00 for guests and partners.

Any guest that wishes to play golf will have to pay an additional green fee.

We will be collecting monies from Wednesday 28th August.

Please book early.

 

I will be putting up a list for names to be entered which will need to be confirmed as soon as possible so numbers can be confirmed for food.

Already looking forward to this evening and thank you all so far for taking part.
