Ladies October Update from Liz France

Good Afternoon Ladies,

September was not a great month for golf, especially on a Wednesday! The golf gods were against us! The Wishlade Trophy was a prime example. It was scheduled for 3^rd of Sept and we actually managed to play it on 1^st October.

Mon 15^th Sept League Ryder Cup 8 Ladies took part in this final County League match of 2025. The weather gods were still out in force with wind, wind and more wind. However it did not stop us enjoying our golf and the lovely meal after the match.
Our thanks must go to Chris Stevens for all her hard work organising these matches throughout the season. We look forward to next year.

Wed 17^th Sept Lady Captains Charity Day The gods were with us! It was Charity Day after all! What a great Day we had. Carolyn Dowle was our winner and she went home with a beautiful trophy and a useful prize, so she said. Well done Carolyn.

As for our Charity we added the wonderful sum of £377 to the pot. A huge thank you must go to all who donated prizes. Their generosity is so appreciated. Also a big thank you must go to Val Bate. She is now crowned Queen of Raffle Ticket Sellers. We now have the grand total of £1411.65.
I think the Ladies Section should be very proud to have raised that amount of money from such a small group. My heartfelt thanks for a charity that I feel is so deserving.

Fri 19th Sept 2 of our ladies took part in the Friday Mixed Stableford and showed the men how to play golf. Jill Peppett came in 1^st and Chris Stevens was 2nd. Well done ladies.

Mon 22^nd Sept Again the ladies took part in a mixed event. It was the final RAGS day of the year and was held at Studley Wood. 10 ladies took part and 12 gentlemen. A good number, and we had a great day which was expertly organised by John Stephenson. Our thanks go to him. The winner of the ladies trophy was Jill and the longest drive for the ladies was Chris Stevens. Again well done ladies.

These last two events are open to any members so if anyone is interested please get in touch with any committee member and we will give you all the info to join in the fun.

Wed 24th Sept A fun ladies informal morning with only Irons and a Putter in the bag. Ladies soon found out just how often they used their irons! The scores did the talking!

Yours truly won(that is because I cannot use Woods) and 2^nd was Gerry. Well done Gerry.

Mon 29th Sept The Finals for Summer Singles and the Summer Pairs was played . The Singles Champion is Jill Peppett and the Pairs Champions are Melinda Pooley and Gill Young. Both were very close matches so well done all.

Events for October

Wed 1^st Oct The Wishlade Trophy As I write this has already taken place. It was won by a very delighted Sylvia Clarke and was presented by the lovely lady herself Lynne Wishlade. So a big thank you to Lynne for coming to present the trophy to Sylvia.

Tues 7^th Oct Meeting of the Ladies Section in the Princes Suite at 2.30pm.

This has been called by the ladies committee due to the uncertainty within the club's committee of volunteers. We would like to discuss with our lady members how we go forward next year and remain as an active group within PRGC.
Your opinion as members really matters to us, so please try and find the time to attend if possible.

9 Hole Club Championship – This Wednesday – October 1st

Good Morning Gentlemen,

On WEDNESDAY 1st October we are holding the annual 9-HOLE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP off a special BLACK TEE course.

This is a unique mixed Stableford event and can be played any time after 12.00 noon on 1st October.

It has been specifically designed to fit in with the WAGS group but all qualified golfers are entitled to play. You make your own groups for the event.

To match the course a unique score card has been developed for this event which will be available on the day and this means you DO NOT enter your scores into the WHS.

The entry fee is £5 which must be placed in the competition box prior to starting your round.

The results will be declared on the day and the prize presented.

RyderHeim Cup … this Saturday 4th October – get your teams in now

I am pleased to give details of the ‘RyderHeim’ Cup, which is being held on SATURDAY 4th OCTOBER, 2025.

As a reminder, and for our newer members, the event is an 18 - hole morning only competition for FOUR-BALL teams consisting of: 6 Holes of Foursomes 6 Holes of 4 Ball Better Ball 6 Holes of Singles Men play off the Gold tees, Ladies off the Bronze tees.

This together with the sign-up sheets which will be posted in the clubhouse.

My thanks to Sarah for her invaluable support with the event.

The Ryderheim is for teams of 4 and if we get enough teams, we should be able to have a Shotgun start at around 09.00.

A short briefing is planned for c. 08.30 during coffee. If we don’t get enough teams for a shotgun, tee times will be allocated at intervals of 10 minutes.

You must PRE-REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT so please sign up at the club as soon as you can, but in any event by WEDNESDAY 1st OCTOBER, with your team’s name and the names of your team members.

If you wish to play and don’t have enough players to form a full team, please register and let me know and I will try to sort out some additional team members for you.

A special score card and sheet will be produced for the event as of course this is not an event suitable for the WHS.

The £15 entry fee is payable IN ADVANCE please and includes prizes, coffee before and lunch after.

Ryder Cup – Home and Away…

It was great to experience the buzz of the Ryder Cup in the Clubhouse and thank you to all the members who chose to support PRGC rather than their local pubs to enjoy the victory! Great to see you all!

It was also amazing for the club to be receiving ongoing images of the triumph live from New York, from our Club Secretary, Mark Collins and his son Martyn. What an amazing weekend!! No one expressed any jealousy at all 🙂

Lastly, a huge thank you to the clubhouse team who worked hard all afternoon and evening across the 3 days delivering great service, great beer and an incredibly well received 'after hours' menu of bar snacks and meals.

What a weekend!!
