Elite PRGC Golfers Coached Around Scotland’s Greats Courses..

One of our greatest ex Captain's, Craig Whitworth and some of our finest young golfers, Luke, Dan and Ewan, accompanied Bruce Loome around some of Scotland's finest courses - St Andrews, Panmure, Scotscraig and Monifeith.

“Had an amazing time on some of Scotland’s finest golf courses.  In addition to enjoying some competitive and fun rounds of golf, we enjoyed great restaurants and bars in the evenings and the social side definitely matched the golf!”

RAGS Report of Last Meeting This Season

Fellow RAGS,

22 members gathered at Studley Wood for the last meeting of RAGS this season.  It began with our usual bacon baps at 10.00 am before teeing off at 11.00 am.

It was perfect golfing weather, continuous sun with several in shorts, with most of us wishing we had worn by the time golf had finished. Studley Wood was in excellent condition with perfect fairways and lightening greens. However, the length of the course proved a challenge for many with average scores being lower than usual.  However, the cream rose to the top as usual with Mark Collins storming away leaving the rest of us in his wake.  He’s jetting off to New York for the Ryder cup at the weekend and we suggested he packs his clubs in case the European team are down a player.

Dick Pooley, the immediate past captain, was asked to present the prizes with the following winners.

Overall winnerMark Collins with 36 points winning £20 and taking the RAGS trophy.

Ladies’ winnerJill Peppett retaining the Ladies Trophy with 22 points and £15.

Winner – front 9Craig Whitworth with 16 points and £10. A member of S/W but obviously eased off to give us all a chance.

Winner – back 9Barry Woledge with 19 points and £10.

Longest drive (Ladies) – Chris Stevens winning £10

Longest drive (Men) Dave Thomas winning £10

Nearest the pinAdam Zaziemski winning £10.  The pro must have been feeling humourless as he recommended the 4th green, tough for all players from an elevated tee with ditch in front of the green. Only two players reached or held the green.

A special award was presented to Malcolm Dodds who was retiring from competitive golf on entering his 9th decade in 5 weeks’ time. Malcolm had been a regular in RAGS from the beginning when he attended the inaugural outing in 2020 and missed only two or three outings since that time.  The memento was to remind him of his time with his friends in RAGS coupled with a personal thanks from John Stephenson for his continuous support.

Thanks to everyone who took part and congratulations to all the winners. Many players said they would like another go at Studley Wood so we might try and build it in to a future programme.  Pictures of the winners’ presentations are attached.

RAGS will reconvene again next Spring when we hope to play more courses to test our endurance and abilities at other clubs so look out for further notices in early Spring. Meanwhile, my thanks to all participants who have made these outings so congenial and fun.

Best wishes,
John

Ryder Cup – We’ve Got You Covered

Dear members,

Big News

As part of an exciting new trial, Sky Sports is now the official broadcaster at Princes Risborough Golf Club—replacing TNT Sports and bringing you closer to the action than ever before - including Ryder Cup Coverage

Why the switch? being honest, golfers were not interested in watching TNT at PRGC.  That may be because you are not here to watch TV or because you might prefer Sky Sports, which delivers unrivalled coverage, expert commentary, and exclusive access to the biggest sporting moments. Either way, whether you're a golf purist, a football fanatic, or just love the buzz of live sport with good company and a pint in hand, this upgrade could be for you. Come down, tune in, and experience the difference.

This is a trial—but if it’s a hit, it could be the start of something permanent. Let’s make it count 🙂

Significant New Investments in GK Equipment

PRGC Invests in Cutting-Edge Toro Technology

Princes Risborough Golf Club is proud to announce the latest addition to its turf management fleet: the Toro Reelmaster® 3100-D, equipped with EdgeSeries™ reels and Sidewinder® technology. This strategic investment underscores the club’s commitment to delivering championship-class playing conditions and maintaining its commitment to excellence.

The Reelmaster 3100-D is trusted by leading golf courses around the globe for its precision, durability, and innovative design. With Dual Precision Adjustment (DPA) cutting units and Toro’s advanced EdgeSeries™ reels, the machine delivers a consistently high-quality cut and superior after cut appearance—ensuring every blade of grass meets championship standards.

The Sidewinder® system, which allows the cutting units to shift laterally by up to 61 cm, reduces turf wear and enhances manoeuvrability around bunkers, trees, and tight contours. Combined with an operator-forward design that improves visibility and comfort, this technology represents a significant leap forward in sustainable and efficient course maintenance.

As Jack, our Head Greenkeeper put it -  "Our course, our members and our guests deserve the very best, and this upgrade allows us to deliver tournament ready conditions and optimise the  golfing experience.

The Cobra - being put through its paces and making a huge impact!

PRGC Elevates Bunker and Slope Quality with Championship-Grade Cobra Hover Mower powered by Briggs & Stratton Engine

Princes Risborough Golf Club is also proud to announce a further addition to its turf care fleet: the Cobra 20" Hover Mower, powered by the Briggs & Stratton 575EX Series engine. This cutting-edge machine is engineered to deliver precision, agility, and durability—making it an ideal solution for maintaining the most challenging areas of the course, including bunker surrounds, steep banks, and pond surrounds.

Designed in the UK to meet the evolving demands of golf course management, the Cobra effortlessly manages slopes of up to 45°.  Its ABS injection-moulded deck ensures lightweight manoeuvrability without compromising strength, while the 20" cutting width provides efficient coverage in tight and awkward spaces.

"Championship-quality turf demands championship-quality tools, the Cobra is already making an impact!"
