ReMarkable!! Was this the most amazing CBL end of season performance from PRGC ever?

This is how things stood in our CBL table after PRGC's stunning draw with Aldwickbury Park last week and prior to the last game of the season... could PRGC achieve the seemingly impossible... achieve an away win at Weston Turville? (Ed)

Today the men's team played the last CBL match of the season away at our close neighbours, Weston Turville. When we are in the same division of the CBL we routinely open and close the season with matches between the clubs and this year is no exception. Way back in the Spring we won at home 3.5:2.5 and there was no doubt Weston Turville were keen to reverse that result on their turf in this, the final match of the season for both clubs. Whilst neither club was in the running to top the division there is the little matter of local bragging rights so it was all to play for.
The Risborough men really pulled out all the stops on the day and secured something that is quite unusual in the Chiltern Breakfast league, an away WIN!!
The match was very tight but Neil Martin and Gavin Adams produced their customary win  4&2 in the first rubber. Pete Major and Alan Nunn were really up against it when they were 6 down but they fought back brilliantly to finally lose 2 down on the 18th green. Captain John Verrall and the Welsh Wizard Dean Herritty then came in with really good halved match so at half way it's all square. Craig Whitworth and Dave McKenzie then nudged us ahead with an outstanding 5&3 win to be followed by our father and son pair of Graham and Matt Enfield who succumbed to a 4&3 loss. So one game left on the course and the match is still all square. Cometh the hour, cometh the men and this time it was Mark Tubb and Barry Woledge who delivered a 1 up win in the final rubber to secure the match 3.5 : 2.5 in the favour of Princes Risborough.
This was an outstanding result and the back to back wins in the last two matches of the season means the team finish mid table in a CBL division containing a number of the "big beasts" of the CBL.
Over the season many players have participated in these matches and all deserve credit for representing the club and playing some outstanding golf. Particular mention should go to Neil Martin and Gavin Adams who lost only one match all season long. Special mention should also go to our co-patron, Mark Tubb, who is one of the few league players to secure a 100% record this year. We will pass over the fact that due to early season injury this match at Weston Turville was his only match of the season!!
We now move on to the CBL Challenge Cup at Waterstock on Sunday 20th October and then the winter knock-out where we will play Mill Green on Saturday 16th November. Onwards and upwards.
