The Rules of Golf – getting simpler and easier due to multi-media…

Remember that old paper Rule Book?  it is now very much a thing of the past!!  Along with the new World Handicapping System, the R&A are modernising and simplifying their rule book all the time and the paper based versions are out of date almost as soon as they are printed.

Check out the latest R&A online rule book...

For example - water hazards like our lakes and ponds are now called 'penalty areas'! and there are videos and diagrams which clearly and simply guide you through the rules.

Rule 17 now covers penalty areas within the online R&A rule book - check it out here or via our Frequently Asked Questions on the PRGC website

NB Always check out any local rules which also apply.  For example, golfers must not attempt to play from or retrieve a ball from the lakes and ponds as it seriously damages the lake beds, causing leaks.

Christmas Eve Texas Scramble 2020 Cancelled

Monday November 23rd – Parliamentary Debate on Re-Opening Golf Courses

The petition to exempt golf courses from the list of venues required to close during lockdown will be debated on November 23.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Golf (APPGG) had previously admitted defeat in its bid to keep courses open after writing to Boris Johnson on behalf of England Golf, the PGA, the R&A and other leading groups from the industry.

However, the petition, which has received more than 257,000 signatures, will now be debated in Westminster Hall, along with a similar one relating to gyms.
