Ladies Update February 2022

Princes Risborough Golf Club

FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER FROM YOUR LADIES COMMITTEE

Hello Ladies

I am afraid there is very little to report regarding golf during January, as every competition planned had to be cancelled due to the weather and playing conditions.  The forecast for February does look better and hopefully we will again be back on the greens.  The Winter Stableford scheduled to be played in January has now been moved to February. We were, however, able to hold the re-arranged Turkey Trot lunch on Wednesday, 18 January.  It was held in the refurbished Princes Suite and was a most enjoyable event.  As usual the food provided by Tricia and her team was excellent and the ladies were very impressed with the new Suite.

However, something to look forward to is a Charity Quiz Night on Friday, 17 March.  This is being organised by our Lady Captain and Vice-Captain, Jill and Sue, and they will be advising you of all the details in due course.  Cost per head will be £15 including food and prizes, with teams a maximum of 6 people.  PLEASE MAKE A NOTE IN YOUR DIARY.

The Ladies Golf Break in May has now been confirmed and will be held at the De Vere Wokefield Estate Golf Club.  This is being organised by our Social Secretaries, Melinda and Rosie.

The programme for February is now:

Wed 1         Winter Stableford **

Fri 3             Mixed Stableford

Sat 4            Winter Stableford **

Wed 8         Stableford **

Fri 10           Mixed Stableford

Sat 11          Stableford **

Fri 17           Mixed Stableford

Wed 22        Multiply Magic Competition

Attached is a revised Fixture List.

Ladies, we do hope you can enjoy some mud-free golf in February!

Club Captain – February Update

Good afternoon Fellow PRGC Members,
This is my second monthly communication to you all and I do hope you find it helpful.
Unfortunately, the weather has most certainly been against us recently resulting in very little competitive golf in January.  The forecast for the next couple of weeks looks better so hopefully we will be able to play on the greens again soon.
I attach the current February 2023 Club Diary.  As usual If you wish to play in any of the competitions then please simply follow the normal process for entry.
I want to specifically mention a future important addition to the calendar, and this is a Charity Quiz Night being held on the evening of Friday 17th March. It is being organised by Jill Peppett and Sue Pomeroy, our Ladies captain and vice-captain, The cost is £15 per head including food and prizes with teams up to a maximum of 6 people. I will be in touch again regarding this but in the meantime please put it in your diary and sort out your teams.
It is important I remind you that there are still some vacancies on your committee, where we need some assistance particularly with the role of Competition Secretary. This role lends itself to being organised into at least two sections and we are therefore looking for a couple of members to take on a portion of the role. If you want more information about this, please contact either Steve Sargeant or me.
That’s all for now, but should you have any comments and/or queries please feel free to contact me or any of the Committee Members, and we will do our best to assist you.
Best wishes
Al

Clubhouse Renovations – Work In Progress…

Dear members,

Clubhouse Internal Winter Improvement Plan

Just a quick heads up; we are close to completing the refurbishment of the Princes Suite.  Feedback from members and visitors has been incredibly positive and a big thank you for all of your comments!

Room hire charges for events are per hour and very competitive for non-members:
Princes Suite - £30 + vat daytime and £50 + vat for the evening...
Banqueting Suite - £60 + vat daytime and £100 +vat for the evening
Orangery - £20 + vat daytime and £40 + vat for the evening

And FREE if you are a member!
... if you a member at PRGC and getting married or celebrating a big birthday event you can hire one of our function rooms for free - this is a huge benefit versus other clubs.  We are a very social club and also offer discounts on events for family and friends, so please don't hesitate to ask 🙂

Work In progress - refurbished Princes Suite will be more versatile and freshly re-decorated. Great work from our building team - a partnership of Mr. A. Day and our very own Nigel

Clubhouse External Winter Improvement Plan

Again, just a quick heads up; we are mid way through tidying up the area as you exit the course, including providing a new location to clean your trollies and shoes.

In short there are 3 stages:

  1. A tidy new bin area capable of housing all of the bins (Bay 2)
  2. A new, spacious shoe and trolley cleaning area (Bay 1)
  3. A newly paved and tidied area where the old shoe cleaning area used to be

These areas have been prone to untidiness over the years and we are determined to put that right this year.

Bay 2: New 'Bin Tidy Area' being prepared for all bins - including the large Biffa bins

Bay 1: New 'Shoe and Trolley Cleaning Area' is being prepared in the first bay as you exit the course - concrete base will allow faster and easier cleaning of the area

Happy New Year and January Reminders from Al Bowyer…

Dear PRGC Members,
I am striving to improve communications from your Committee and this is the first of my intended monthly updates to you all.

In this communication I have firstly attached the details of this years’ Members Committee which includes a number of important changes as Barry Woledge, Neil Martin and Doug Taylor all stood down after many years of sterling service.

These changes mean that we have 2 vacant positions, namely Competitions Secretary and Treasurer. If any of you are at all interested in helping the Committee and/or assisting with either of these roles, would you please make contact with me or Steve Sargeant so that we can discuss the options with you. In the meantime, Steve and I will do our utmost to cover these important roles.

The second attachment is the current January 2023 Club Diary. If you wish to play in any of the competitions then please simply follow the normal process for entry.

Should you have any related comments and/or queries please feel free to contact me or any of the Committee Members, and we will do our best to assist you. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

And finally, may I take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and healthy 2023 together of course with some great golf!

Best wishes
