22 members gathered at Goring & Streatly for the first meeting of RAGS this season. All in fine fettle beginning with our usual bacon baps at 10.00 am before teeing off at 11.00 am.
Although rain was forecast, as usual RAGS had perfect conditions on probably the best course played so far. As usual some fell by the wayside while others excelled. Was golf ever thus!!
Congratulations to the following who scooped the prizes:
Overall winner – Barry Woledge with 35 points winning £25 and taking the RAGS trophy.
Ladies’ winner – Melinda Pooley with 31 points winning £15 and taking the Ladies Trophy.
Winner – front 9 – Dick Pooley with 17 points (on countback against Mike Stenning and Fred Mullin) winning £10.
Winner – back 9 – Gill Young winning £10 with 19 points.
Longest drive (Ladies) – £10 held over until next event
Longest drive (Men) – Paul Howfield winning £10
Nearest the pin (Ladies) – Arlinda Chaplin winning £10
Nearest the pin (Men) – £10 held over until next event.
A beautiful course with many players saying they would like another chance at it as ball position was key on some of the holes.
Having trouble removing pictures of the winners’ presentations from my phone so will send out later.
Please note the next meeting will be at Kirklington GC on July 6th which is a more generous course and more likely to bring in some high scores. Full details to follow shortly.
