The sun is shining and it is starting to feel like spring is finally springing into action and it feels timely to offer a quick heads up on club news. As you know we have three core priorities:
- Improve the course each and every year
- Help people to enjoy the course even more each year
- Provide the highest level of customer service we possibly can
To take each in turn:
The boys have been working hard on various projects:
Greens:
We have invested heavily this year in a fusarium prevention programme which has successfully protected our greens from disease and also reinvigorated their fringes. They are in amazing shape to kick off the spring season and very soon we will be moving into the 'growth phase'. New work will involve punching fine holes in the greens to aid aeration and irrigation, essentials for a long and healthy season. We will also be applying a small amount of iron based fertiliser which will kill off any moss and encourage fresh grass growth.
Bunkers:
The bunker renovation programme this winter included work on the 2nd, 5th and 6th to cure their overhangs and ensure that they complied with our new best practice standards. We will also be completing the greenside hole 1 bunker over the coming weeks. We have invested in over 40 tonnes of top grade bunker sand to refresh the green side bunkers and the boys have been hard at work sharpening their edges.
Tees:
Delighted to say that we have once again invested heavily this year in our tees. Ladies will enjoy new tees on holes 1, 6, 7 and 9 either as completely reworked and re- turfed areas or top dressed and re- levelled surfaces. For the ladies we are also looking at a new solution for hole 4 - watch this space 🙂 We have also invested this winter in the development of a new white tee for hole 14. This was a Neil Terry original idea which we worked on with our golf consultant to create a very new and different experience.
