Ladies Update – January 2023

 Princes Risborough Golf Club

JANUARY NEWSLETTER FROM YOUR LADIES COMMITTEE

Hello Ladies

As far as golf is concerned, this last month has been very miserable.  Snow and ice and lots of rain!  Our Turkey Trot golf competition and lunch was cancelled due to snow and ice and treacherous conditions on the roads.  However, we do hope to rearrange sometime in January.

The only competition played was the December Stableford, which was won by Sue Pomeroy.  Well done Sue!

The Christmas Eve Florida Scramble did take place and was enjoyed by all, but unfortunately there were no ladies in the winning teams.  Better luck next year!

The draw for the Christmas Hamper took place as planned on 14th December and was won by Maddie, who works behind the bar.  We also had a Guess the Weight of the Cake raffle and other donations, which raised a magnificent sum of £406.00.  In addition £174.00 was raised from MND Christmas cards and donations instead of buying and sending cards.  Many thanks to Sue Pomeroy and Polly Allen for providing such a wonderful hamper and to Polly for making the Christmas cake.  However, most importantly thank you to all who supported our Charity and helped raise a total of £580.00.

In view of the lack of golf in December, the programme for January has been rearranged.

January programme:

Wed 4      Scottish Foursomes competition

Fri 6        Mixed Stableford

Sat 7        January Stableford

Wed 11    January Stableford

Fri 13      Mixed Stableford

Wed 18   Turkey Trot competition and lunch **

**  More details from Rosie and Melinda

Our captain, Jill, would like to encourage all members to use the changing room on arrival at the club on a Wednesday morning.  This will enable members to order their lunch on the form that will be provided on the top of the cupboard.  It will also give members a chance to read match results, any new notices and progress of the Winter Pairs competition, and of course in the summer all the other Ladies competitions.

We do hope to see as many ladies as possible at our rearranged Turkey Trot lunch on 18th January, including some of our past members.

A revised fixture list will be circulated.

Wishing you good golfing in 2023 and a very happy and healthy New Year

Beryl Austin - on behalf of the Ladies Committee
