Ladies September 2021 Update

Princes Risborough Golf Club
SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER FROM YOUR LADIES COMMITTEE

Hello Ladies
We had a good month in August. All competitions went ahead as planned with no cancellations due to weather etc.!

Our first event was the Ladies Charity Day in aid of the Florence Nightingale Hospice situated at Stoke Mandeville. A speaker from the Hospice visited the club and explained the work that went on at the Hospice and this was followed by a lovely lunch provided by Trish. £230 was raised on the day for the charity.

Also, this month Pauline Allen hosted a wonderful Afternoon Tea at her home in aid of our charity, which was well attended by members and friends and raised a fantastic £341. Thank you so much, Polly, for all your hard work and your most generous hospitality – not to mention your wonderful cakes!! Also thanks to Jules who ably supported you on the day. The afternoon tea was worthy of Claridges!!

The August Stableford was won by Chris Stevens with a score of 41 pts. and the Grannies Cup was won by Jules Bendell. Well done Chris and Jules!

The summer competitions have now reached the final rounds:
Hutley Cup: Winners: Bex Lowry & Barry Woledge
Summer Singles: Rosie Brand v Chris Hallett
Summer Pairs: Jules Bendell & Melinda Pooley v
Jill Peppett & Sue Pomeroy

Would any ladies who won trophies during the year and still have them at home, please return them to Jacqui Taylor as soon as possible so that they may be engraved in readiness for our Presentation Evening in October.

There were 2 ladies matches in August. We lost away to Whiteleaf and at home to Huntswood. However, we drew the away mixed match against Weston Turville.

It has been pointed out by Mark Tubb that some members feel they have the right to move tee markers to a position they want to play from. Anyone caught doing so will be asked to leave the course immediately as it is against the R&A rules of golf and against PRGC course policies and rules. We find it hard to believe it is any of our ladies, but we have been asked to get the message out and that is what we are doing. If you do see anyone on the course moving tee markers, please report back immediately to one of the members of the ladies committee.

September timetable is:
1 September Seniors Cup
4/5 September Medal
8 September Medal
13 September Ladies & Mens Away Day at Oakland Park
15 September Ladies Inaugral Cup
18 September Ladies All Winners Cup – alternate day
19 September California Cup
22 September Ladies All Winners cup

On a more sombre note, this month we heard of the death of one of our dear friends and past Lady Captain, Meg Bowen. We send all our sincerest condolences to her family as we remember her with very fond memories.

As you can see, a full programme this month Ladies.
Enjoy your golf and as always - PLAY SAFE – STAY SAFE
