P.R.G.C. LADIES SECTION
LOOKING BACK, LOOKING FORWARD
SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER
September seems to have been a little less busy than the previous month and the odd showers of rain did help to return the course to its proper green colour.
Friday 4th September was the Ryder Cup competition for all the Chiltern League teams at Weston Turville. The team had a very enjoyable day. Carole and Arlinda scored 39 points on their 4 Ball Better Ball game. These competitions are very hardly fought but very enjoyable. Our thanks go to Chris Stevens for all her hard work in arranging and organizing the fixtures. It involves a lot of hard work, thank you Chris from all of the team.
On the 9th we played the September Medal and this was won by Chris Stevens, with Pam Howfield second and Chris Hallett third. Well done all the ladies who took part.
Congratulations must go to Jill Peppett and Al Bowyer for winning the Hutley Cup beating Gill and Garry Young. Well done all of you, it was a close game.
Congratulations must also go to Arlinda Chaplin for winning the ladies summer singles with victory over Gerry Walker
The 16th saw the ladies off to Wycombe Heights Par 3 course, armed only with three clubs and a putter. It was quite a challenge, you always seem to have left just the club you wanted at home ! The competition was won by Liz France and the group enjoyed an excellent lunch afterwards.
On 23rd the final of the Ladies Summer Pairs was played with a victory for Liz France and Arlinda Chaplin with a narrow win against Melinda Pooley and Gill Young. The rest of us played a Texas Scramble where the winning team was Jean Caldicott, Gerry Walker and Jules Bendell.
Our ladies are also taking part in an Invitation match at Badgemore Golf Club and we wish them the best of luck in this challenging competition.
Our main competition of the year will be the Barcilon Cup where we have 15 ladies taking part. This is a two day competition to find the Ladies Champion and the Ladies handicap Champion. There are also 4 Dexter Trophies for winners in four different playing sections. We are all looking forward to it and our thanks to Melinda for all her hard work in organizing the competition. Results next month.
October should be slightly quieter. We are starting the month with the All Winners competition on 7th followed by the Autumn Stableford on 14th . We will be having two informal Ladies Mornings on 21st and 28th with our Presentation Evening on the 28th October
Thank you to all the ladies who have been part of all these activities, they have been great fun and enjoyed by all.
