Members Annual General Meeting

This took place on Tuesday 05 November and formally brought a close to the Captaincy year of John Verrall, Rosie Brand and Brian Fowler. The meeting was very successful and we bid a fond farewell to our Secretary, Beryl Austin, who retired after many years of loyal service to the members. The key roles to be performed by members next year are as follows:

  • Men’s Captain: Craig Whitworth
  • Men’s Vice Captain: Al Bowyer
  • Men’s seniors Captain: Doug Taylor
  • Ladies Captain: will this year be managed by the ladies Committee there being no nominee
  • Treasurer: Steve Williams
  • Competitions Secretary: Barry Woledge
  • Men’s handicap Secretary: Neil Martin
  • Members Representative: Brian Fowler
  • Ladies handicap Secretary: Sue D’Arcy (supported by Jill Peppett)
  • Ladies Competitions Secretary: Jacqui Taylor

Men’s All winners Champions 2019

We concluded the 2019 competition season with our two end of season invitation events.

  • The seniors Champion of Champions: embraced all those senior members who had won a Medal, Stableford, Knock Out or other qualifying senior competition over the year played off either white or yellow tees. This year’s Senior Champion of Champions is Geoff Barrett so many congratulations to Geoff. In second spot was Craig Whitworth who for the third time in major competition this year was bridesmaid as he had been runner up in the senior singles KO and the senior pairs KO! Better luck next year Craig.
  • The Club All Medal Winners Champion of Champions: embraced all those members who had won a medal off the white tees in the golf year November 2018 through October 2019. This was a great day for the 16 participants and some outstanding golf was played throughout. The winner this year was Gavin Adams with an amazing net 61, 7 shots under handicap! In second place on a net 64 was Dean Herritty and this was bad timing as in any other year that score would have won. Graham Blackwell was in third spot on a net 69 so very much keeping up the standards of the “Fowler Bowl “qualifiers. Needless to say, the handicap secretary has the cards from this day!!

Winter Eclectic

This is our primary winter event, played off yellow tees, and will run through to Spring 2020. You play 10 designated rounds over the period and your end of competition card will be your best score on each hole played out over the 10 rounds. Entry fee is £5 and there are substantial cash prizes to be won for the gross and net winners. Place your money in an envelope and your playing cards (duly marked) in the Eclectic Letter Box not the Competition box. Pete Major manages this event on our behalf so please help Pete with proper completion of cards for each round.

December Events

December is a quiet month on the course but there are some key items of note:

  • TOFFS Christmas Gala: will be held on Tuesday 03 December: Golf, a convivial lunch, Mince Pies and carols: what more could you ask for? Click here for details
  • The Club Stableford: will be a week earlier on the weekend of Friday 06, Saturday 07 and Sunday 08 December
  • The Seniors Stableford: will be on Tuesday 10 December
  • The Club Medal: will be a week earlier on Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 December
  • Christmas Eve Texas Scramble: our traditional eve of Christmas event will take place on Tuesday 24 December. This is a team event played in teams of 4 off the yellow (men) and red (ladies) tees. We play this to Florida rules which will be explained on the day. All members and guests are welcome to make up the teams and there will be prizes for first, second and third so lots to play for. The course will be closed on the day as this is a shot gun start and all those who regularly play on Tuesdays are welcome to submit teams for this, one of the highlight events of the PRGC golfing calendar. Coffee and biscuits on arrival, team golf, a light buffet lunch to follow and no doubt a dram or two. What better way to end the golf year and start your golfing Christmas? Sign up sheets are in the notice boards so sign up soon as there are limited places available for this bonanza.

That is our December.

Happy golfing
