Rules of Engagement
- 36 Hole MEDAL competition played over two days
- Two competitions are played in parallel:
- The Barcilon Cup Club Championship played off scratch
- The Handicap Championship played with full handicap allowance
- No Gimmee’s-your ball MUST finish in the hole
- Stroke and distance applies throughout. If in doubt as to where your ball will end up, play a provisional ball from where you played the original shot
- Maintain the pace of play and KEEP UP with the group in front
- Covid Marking: Do NOT Swap cards. Mark the card for your playing partner as player A and you as Marker. At conclusion of the round agree the scores with your playing partner, sign the card and place it in the competition box. There is no requirement for the players signature.
- Cards to be submitted in the clubhouse immediately after completion of your round
- R&A rules and local rules apply as per the new card
- Bunkers: we continue to have preferred lies in bunkers: Mark your ball, lift, clean and place the ball within one clubs length no nearer the hole.
- Sand Bees: It is Sand Bee season and should you encounter the sand bees you may place your ball in the bunker outside of the area of infestation, no nearer the hole. In the unlikely event the entire bunker is infested you may DROP your ball within one club length short of the bunker at the point where your ball entered the bunker
- PLAY SAFE: STAY SAFE rules apply throughout

Earlier Competition Notes:
As you will be aware we are running this years 36 hole Club Championship on Saturday 12th AND Sunday 13th September. Due to the Covid 19 restrictions there are a number changes to the format which are as follows:
1 There will be no signing up sheets. Those men wishing to play in this event should advise Barry Woledge by email to barry.woledge@gmail.com. Ladies should advise Jill Peppett directly
2 The closing date for entries will be close of play on Wednesday 09 September
3 Play will commence on both days no later than 0830
3 The Ladies will go out first on both days. Batting order for both days will be advised by Jill Peppett
4 The men will follow the ladies. For the men, on Saturday 12 September play will be in strict handicap order with the lowest handicaps out first and the highest last
5 On Sunday 13th September play will be in strict performance order with the highest scratch scores out first progressing to the lowest scratch scores out last. Please note that there will be no variations to this order on Sunday
6 Barry Woledge will advise the men's batting order in due time
7 Golf will be played in accordance with the Play Safe: Stay safe protocols. Cards will completed by each player for their partner and no players signature will be required
8 This is the most important club competition of the year. The men are playing for The Barcilon Cup Scratch Championship and the Club Handicap Championship. The ladies are playing for The Barcilon Cup Scratch Championship and the divisional trophies
9 Entry fee is £8 and will be collected after the event
10 In the light of the Covid 19 restrictions there will be no BBQ this year. Catering will be available for those who wish to pre book with Sarah/Trish and can meet the Covid 19 protocols. This is a personal choice and will not be part of the event day
11 We will endeavour to announce the results after the golf on Sunday but there will be a delay as PPE will be required by those doing the processing!!
That's it for now. A lot to take in but we are at least able to run the Club Championship 2020 which at one stage looked doubtful.
