At a proprietary golf club like Princes Risborough Golf Club, there is no formal requirement for a constitution in the way that member-owned clubs typically operate. That said, we are proud to be a member-centric club, and have proactively developed the governance principles outlined below to reflect the values that matter most to us.
These principles are designed to promote transparency, fairness, and inclusivity — ensuring that our members feel heard, respected, and empowered in helping to shape the club’s direction.
Princes Risborough Golf Club
A Club Built on Family Values, Fairness, and a Love for the Game
Preface: What Makes Us Special
At Princes Risborough Golf Club, we do things a little differently—and proudly so. As a proprietary golf club, our course and facilities are owned and cared for by a family-run business that puts people first. You won’t be asked to manage club politics or shoulder financial burdens. Instead, you’ll be welcomed into a community that’s built around enjoyment, respect, and a shared passion for golf.
We’re managed by PRGolfClub.com Ltd, a company entrusted by the Proprietor to run the club with professionalism and heart. Our facilities also host weddings, celebrations, conferences and events—bringing life and sustainability to the club while keeping golf at its core.
1. Our Name and Our Values
We are Princes Risborough Golf Club—proudly affiliated with England Golf and aligned with their mission to make golf more inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable for all. We adopt their policies and guidance to ensure our club remains modern, fair, and welcoming. We endeavour to:
* Provide the highest quality of customer service
* Find ways to improve the golf course and golfer experience a little more each year
* Promote a learning environment to help golfers increase their enjoyment of this beautiful game

- To promote sportsmanship, etiquette, community spirit and camaraderie
- To support learning, competition, and local engagement
- To support local apprentices and management with career development, fulfilling roles and an enjoyable, respectful working environment
Whether you're here for a quiet round or a lively tournament, we want you to feel at home.

4. Your Rights and Responsibilities
As a member, you’ll enjoy:
- Access to facilities and events based on your membership type
- A respectful, inclusive community
- A voice in shaping your experience through individual and group feedback
While members don’t hold ownership or voting rights, your input is always valued—and often acted upon.
5. Fairness for All
We’re committed to equity and inclusion. That means:
- Equal opportunities for everyone
- A discrimination-free environment
- Practices that reflect England Golf’s Equity Policy
Golf is for everyone—and we mean it.
6. Advisory Roles & Member Voice
We welcome member involvement in all shapes and guises – it is our way of staying connected with your needs. We primarily encourage feedback through our “Customer Service Book” (a respectful way to share ideas) and polite, informal conversations between members and management in the clubhouse. We also promote and celebrate a network of volunteers who organise roll ups, competitions and matches, and have one mandatory ‘Handicap Committee’, which supports England Golf’s handicap system.
As the Handicap Committee is so important and a requirement for England Golf Affiliation, it has special conditions associated with it. These are covered within the Guide below.
From the 25/26 season we will be working with groups of members via member forums on specific member experience improvement themes.
Separately, there has historically been a highly valued central General Committee which has helped support the club and has included volunteer roles like:
- Club Secretary, Men’s & Ladies’ Captains and Vice Captains, Handicap Secretary, Finance, Competition & Match organisation [It is important to note that this general committee is a grouping of volunteers, they give their time freely and it is important that they are not a substitute for the customer service book and other feedback opportunities]
Importantly, and this is where we differ from member owned clubs; there is no central ‘membership elite’ or ‘hierarchy’ – all members of PRGC have an equal voice and are listened to.
The role and structure of the General Committee is currently under review, with advice taken from England Golf over the past year.
We will be working closely with the membership to co-create an evolved model that:
- Encourages collaboration between members and management with clear roles and goals
- Enables innovation while preserving the traditions and culture that make PRGC unique
- Strengthens the voice of our growing membership while maximising the enjoyment and fulfilment volunteers get from their roles
- Maximises the fun and fulfilment golfers get from this incredible game, on and off the course
7. Financial
- All finances are managed by the Proprietor and Management Team
- Your fees support the smooth running of the club
- Members are never liable for club debts. In the unlikely event of dissolution, all debts and obligations will be handled by the management company. Members will not be financially responsible
NB A small membership fund is generated by competition entry fees and has been primarily used to provide a stipend to Captains (equivalent to a year’s membership), update competition boards in the clubhouse and provide prizes. These funds to be stewarded in a transparent manner by the Finance volunteer on the general committee.
8. Meetings That Matter
* Individual connection with members and membership groups, every day in the clubhouse – we can be agile and do not need to wait for bureaucracy to get things done
* Regular meetings with the Member Forum (and general committee) to discuss membership matters arising /or items being managed for the membership/ or improvement themes
* Annual General Meetings (AGMs) (and, when needed, Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs)), where volunteers maybe voted onto committees and recommendations made
PRGC AGM - Princes Risborough Golf Club
These are all intended to be consultative, respectful and enjoyable meetings, where your feedback can help shape the club’s direction.
9. Behaviour & Respect
We expect all members to uphold our values of respect and sportsmanship. Breaches may result in warnings or suspension.
Protecting our staff and their working environment is a top priority. Our staff work hard to provide the highest level of customer service and whilst there may be moments of frustration for members, this must never be allowed to spill over into rudeness to staff or management or inappropriate behaviour. We will capture any issues for / with you in the customer service book and matters will be politely and fairly managed.
Respect and courtesy are non-negotiable—whether in person, by email, or on social media.
We promote a collaborative, non-combative, non-confrontational environment. We are here to provide an environment for you to have fun, enjoy your golf and your friendships; to escape for a brief time from the outside world.

- Health & Safety

- Safeguarding
We take your safety and privacy seriously.
12 Public Liability

Our Commitment to You
This is more than a document—it’s a promise. A promise to run Princes Risborough Golf Club with integrity, warmth, and a deep respect for every member.
The Proprietor may update this governance document over time to reflect the evolution of the club and its membership needs – and the one constant will be that we’re here to make golf enjoyable, inclusive, and meaningful for all.
