Here is the write up for the trip...
Tour Summary from Mark Collins...
24 golfers assembled at Whittlebury Park Golf Club to enjoy 3 days of golf, with the first 2 days being played competitively to see who was the best player over 2 rounds and for the PRGC member with the highest 2 day stable points, the Princes Risborough trophy winner .
The weather stayed fair across the 3 days, sun, cloud, a little chilly at times and a breeze to make some holes longer, or possibly shorter. The competition was played over 3 x 9 hole loops, ensuring no 2 days were the same, with each 9 holes have subtle differences, long drives, water, blind tee and second shots on occasion and challenging sand for those who felt the need to go there! For additional enjoyment additional hole prizes were added in and as is the norm, one prize only, unless a member of the winning team on the day, or the overall winer, 2nd or third. The results of the first 2 days are shown below. You will note the unusual situation that arose, whereby we could not split Phil and Meron, so they came to a gentlemen’s agreement to share the trophy and have both of their names inscribed on the trophy for posterity.
On the 3rd day the format changed to a team Texas Scramble, which resulted in some very very competitive scores, with the winning team having the smallest winning margin of 0.4 strokes (after handicap) over the second placed team. The team Texas Scramble results are shown below.
1st Pete Smith, Geoff Rudd and Pervez Razzaq
2nd Alan Batty, John Healey and Tony Banham
3rd Steve Williams, Phil Sloan and Dean Inglis
Well done and thank you to all players, who off the course enjoyed the trackman driving range, spacious clubhouse facilities, hotel dining of a high standard served by a very friendly and accommodating team. Together with access to the Whittlebury Hall spa facilities, along with lots of good humoured banter and stories of 40, no I mean 55f oot putts, 300 yard drives and so much more!! We strongly recommend looking at Whittlebury Park Golf Club for a visit, as it is a gem only 34 miles from PRGC. Championship Golf Course and Facilities in Northamptonshire | Whittlebury Park
Thanks to everyone who assisted in making this trip so possible and so enjoyable, and to those individuals who donated their sweepstake gains to the chosen charity for the event. I am pleased to report that The Royal British Legion has benefitted to the tune of £175.00. Finally, a particular thank you to Al Bowyer for managing the competition planning and daily scoring so well.
See you next year!
