We hope that you have a wonderful game and enjoy the course. It was designed by Ryder Cup star Guy Hunt over 30 years ago and has matured beautifully into the championship course that you are playing today.
Please only play the courses that are set and remember - the White tees are for members competition only, not for causal play or practice. Thank you

Local Rules
Hole 1: Par 4
White 334yds, Yellow 329yds, Red 303yds
How to Play this Hole
This hole is wonderfully challenging. Slice it short and you are in the lake. Slice it long and you are in difficult rough on the right hand side. Hook it short or long and you are in either a hedge or long rough. If you can hit the ball long and straight then aim to the right of the fairway to avoid protective bunkers on the left of the fairway. This will maximise your shot options onto the green.
Moving to the Next Tee
If you are standing on the first green facing the flag (with your back to the first tee) and stretch out your right arm you are effectively pointing towards the path to the 2nd tee. You need to walk through an opening in the hedge and the Tee for hole 2 is on your left hand side (the green for hole 2 is 381 yards to the right). The tees for hole 2 are furthest from the railway. The tees for hole 7 are closest to the railway.
Hole 2: Par 4
White 381yds, Yellow 381yds, Red 353yds
How to Play this Hole
At stroke index 3 off the yellows this is pretty tight. Slice it short and you are in difficult rough. Slice it long and please shout "Fore" - you are either on the 4th fairway or in the lake on the 4th - oops! Hook the ball short and you are in the long bunker on the left, hook it long and you are out of bounds on the railway track, taking 3 off the Tee. If you can stay on the fairway - try to stay to the left giving yourself the easiest route to the pin (avoiding the greenside bunker to the front right of the green).
Moving to the Next Tee
The Tee for the Par 3 3rd is immediately behind the second green.
How to Play this Hole
Beware the lake immediately in front of the green to the left. This recently added lake has a fully natural blue clay floor. Golf balls landing in the lake stay there forever - we never retrieve them. Remove them and we disrupt natures work and cause leaks in the lake floor. The bunker to the right of the green is designed to catch golfers worried by the water! Be brave and loft it onto the green in one and go for your birdie or if you want to be more cautious, lay up to the right of the green and chip your ball on for two. Either way - it's a lovely hole.
Moving to the Next Tee
The Tee for the Par 4 4th is immediately behind the third green.
Hole 4: Par 4
White 280yds, Yellow 265yds, Red 253yds
How to Play this Hole
So, are you brave enough to try to carry the lake and land it on the green? to have a chance to putt out for an eagle? many have tried and many... well many have failed! The canny golfers loft the ball onto the fairway to the right of the lake just over the main central bunker. A short chip on to the green from there gives you the opportunity of a birdie or par. If you are wayward - beware the enormous bunker to the right which curves around the green and will grab your ball if you give it a chance to. The lake seems to always be in play - but try not to think about it 🙂
Moving to the Next Tee
The Tee for the Par 4 5th is through the hedge behind the lake.
Buggies must go around the front of the lake, not near the green. They must certainly not attempt to cross the bridge!

Hole 5: Par 4
White 318yds, Yellow 309yds, Red 303yds
How to Play this Hole
One of the more relaxing holes to play. If you hook your drive over the fence to the left - it's 3 off the tee. Hit it long and to the right and please shout "Fore" as a courtesy to players walking up the 6th fairway. Hit it nice and straight and you should clear the bunker placed on the crest of the hill and the ball will roll down the slope the other side towards the green. The bunker front right of the green challenging so avoid it! Also check where the flag is. This green is on two tiers and you will want to avoid a nasty downhill putt!
Moving to the Next Tee
The Tee for the Par 4 6th is to the right of the 5th green, up a slight slope.
Hole 6: Par 4
White 331yds, Yellow 323yds, Red 318yds
How to Play this Hole
What a beautiful view from the tee. Try not to worry about the lakes bottom left on the first fairway! Float the ball up to the right of the bunker on the 6th fairway and its a simple chip and run from the right hand side of the fairway onto the green. Or take a more lofted club and stop the ball on the green. Whatever you do, avoid the bunkers either side of the green - they will cost you shots.
Moving to the Next Tee
The Tee for the Par 4 7th is behind the green, through the hedge and to the right of the second Tee.
NB For the avoidance of doubt, the tees for hole 2 are furthest from the railway. The tees for hole 7 are closest to the railway.
Now this is a tricky hole - you will be firing your drive over the hedge (hopefully) with a 340 yard out of bounds line to your right (the railway) ... Slicers beware!!
Hole 7: Par 4
White 389yds, Yellow 340yds, Red 299yds
How to Play this Hole
This hole is not stroke index one for nothing!! Right handers, beware the dreaded slice off to the right and out of bounds... back to the tee for 3, then 5, then 7 and that sinking feeling that you just didn't bring enough golf balls!! Hold your nerve and ignore the out of bounds to the right. Drive the ball over the marker on the fairway and watch it slowly roll from the top of the fairway to the middle. Phew! Now to chip down to the green in the bottom right corner. Again hold your nerve. Try to blank out the bunkers to the front left and right of the green and of course the fact that you may hit the ball too long and go out of bounds again. Keep it simple. Pitch the green and putt out for birdie or par.
Moving to the Next Tee
The Tee for the Par 3 8th is up the slope to the left of the green... this is stroke index 18 so quite a contrast!!
Hole 8: Par 3
White 149yds, Yellow 141yds, Red 129yds
How to Play this Hole
This hole is a pretty simple one for the straight hitters - aren't they all I hear you say! Right handers beware the dreaded slice, out of bounds to the right... back to the tee for three. The second main hazard is the green side bunker to the front left of the green. Once on the green, take your time and read it carefully, it has some interesting twists and turns.
Moving to the Next Tee
The Tee for the Par 4 9th is back down the slope towards the 8th tee.
Hole 9: Par 4
White 387yds, Yellow 352yds, Red 279yds
How to Play this Hole
This hole has a blind green. Use the black and white marker on the fairway as your guide. Aim over the marker and your ball will disappear over the crest of the hill. It will roll down the other side into the middle of the fairway. You are left with a challenging chip onto the green in front of the clubhouse. This is your moment to hit the perfect chip. Land the ball just passed the pin and back spin it gently into the hole. The crowd in the bar will provide a standing ovation and you will feel frustrated that you didn't take up the game earlier in life - a tad annoyed that you missed the opportunity to be touring with Rory and Tiger. The alternative is that you have failed to notice the bunkers to the left and right of the green or have topped the ball through the back of the green into the hedge. Either way - why not pop into the clubhouse for a half way snack; milk the applause or suffer that "never mind" pat on the back 🙂

The Tee for the Par 4 10th is positioned in front of the first tee. Welcome to the second nine!!

If Playing off Yellows: The Yellow Tee for the Par 4 16th is behind the 1st green and not in the same location as the 7th. You are closer to the pin and do not have to navigate over the hedge! This makes the 16th hole stroke index 4 off the yellows rather than hole 7 which is stroke index 1.

The Tee for the Par 4 18th is found by walking back towards the 17th Tee. Whilst it shares the same green, the 18th is considerably shorter than the 9th hole with the Tee position circa 37 yds closer to the flag. This is one of the few kindnesses offered by Guy Hunt in what we hope you agree is a wonderfully challenging course - tough on the mind... but very easy on the knees 🙂

LOCAL RULES:
PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE GOLF BALLS FROM THE LAKES
We would ask golfers to respect the rule that golf balls that land in the lakes belong to the lakes. The reason is simply to protect the lake floors whether they be artificial floors or the natural blue clay floor on the 3rd. Please note that we do not retrieve them.
The cost to the club and disruption to golfers involved in repairing lakes is unthinkable and so whilst we fully respect the frustration of not being able to retrieve your ball we ask that you comply with this ruling. Thank you in advance.
