The final board competition of the season saw a field of 22 players compete over two testing days last Friday 12 and Saturday 13 October. The weather on both days was to say the least “entertaining” with high winds and a lot of rain. Being an “outdoors man” was clearly a bonus to Stewart Ford who ran out the winner with an outstanding 37 points. This result is all the more creditable as Stewart played early on Saturday and had to contend with the unexpected monsoon that blew in and took a number players out of contention, ED. Steve Smith delivered a near faultless 36 points playing off a handicap of 5 to finish as runner up, with Vice Captain John Verrall third on 35 points. Mention should also be made of Leo West, a junior member who played in his first board competition and came in with a highly creditable 24 points, and Matt Enfield also making his debut in board competitions. These are two players of the future.
Well done to all who played.
